Can someone do this for a 2005 Jeep Liberty.
The quote was too freakin' high and I know it's mostly labor.
Thank you!!

Hi boys
My english isn't very well. Someone has a step by step procedure to replace the brakes on a Liberty 2002 Limited. Images, pictures, etc.
Thank a lot
'02's had rear drums,'03+ had 4 wheel discs. The rear discs on a KJ are super easy,it takes longer to remove the wheels then it is to replace the rotors and pads.No special tools needed, only a 12mm wrench and a disc brake spreader.Did any of the Liberties even have rear drum breaks? 4-wheel disc was standard on all models, wasn't it? Disc are EASY to do, unless the plungers need a special tool; that's if they cork-screw in... Other than that, it's pretty easy.
I usually use a C-Clamp for that. Is that an appropriate tool for a DIY brake job? It's always worked for me!disc brake spreader.
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but how about a "how-to" on replacing the '02 rear drums with disk brakes - or is that beyond the skill set of the average shade-tree mechanic?

It's very easy to do,well swapping the actual backing plates is easy.Basically it's 4 bolts and that's it,don't forget you will need new brake lines also so it can get expensive fast. You will be thinking what have I gotten myself into when you go to replace the parking brake cables since those will need to be replaced with disc brake ones to keep the parking brake active.I'm telling you I'm not looking forward to swapping those parking brake cables myself,at least they are cheap, less then $30 each.Don't mean to hijack this thread, but how about a "how-to" on replacing the '02 rear drums with disk brakes - or is that beyond the skill set of the average shade-tree mechanic?

The master cylinder is the same but the proportioning valve is different,if you have ABS you will need the ABS module for a 4 wheel disc KJ(very big $$$).In order to change the complete brake setup you will also have to remove your rear drive shafts, therefore you need to take of the diff cover and take then the C-clips of the shafts...
I don't feel this is a DIY job if you've never done any wrenching before.
Does anyone know if the master brake cilinder is the exact SAME as the one on the later model 4 disc KJ's? How bout the brake power regulator? What if you have an early model with ABS on the front brakes?
I'm sticking with the drum brakes, also because the E brake on those does work all the time.
