Looking for info on how to replace the part time 4x4 sensor on a 2004 Jeep Liberty. My part time light comes on and off intermittently when driving, even though I do not have the 4x4 engaged. I'm 99% sure it's the sensor; dealer quoted me $400 which is total garbage.

Thanks for any help you might have.

Jeremy

Procedure looks the same for both models of t-case (they even use the same diagram for both):

REMOVAL
(1) Raise and support the vehicle.
(2) Disengage the transfer case position sensor
connector from the position sensor (Fig. 90).
(3) Remove the position sensor from the transfer
case.
You must be registered for see images attach

1 - TRANSFER CASE POSITION SENSOR CONNECTOR
2 - TRANSFER CASE POSITION SENSOR
3 - TRANSFER CASE
4 - OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR

INSTALLATION
(1) Inspect the o-ring seal on the transfer case
position sensor. Replace the o-ring if necessary.
(2) Install the transfer case position sensor into
the transfer case. Torque the sensor to 20-34 N·m
(15-25 ft.lbs.).
(3) Engage the transfer case position sensor connector
to the position sensor.
(4) Lower vehicle.
(5) Verify proper sensor operation.

Anybody do their rear disc brakes? Anything special I need to know? Any special tools I need? Did a search, but can't find anything. I need to do the fronts too, but I'm assuming there's nothing special there.

Antenna Flags

I'd like to "hang" an American Flag from my Firestik II antenna ...

flag is 8" x 12" with metal grommets ...

Has anyone done this or have any ideas on how to successfully do this without trashing the antenna or lose the flag?

Thanks

Ed

Hi everyone,

I would like to know if you have the ARB Bull Bar's installation guide for a Liberty 2005. I got one bull bar used but the previous owner didn't find such document.

If you have I will appreciate it a lot.

Thanks

I heard a loud snap

I'd like to see a detailed "how to" on repairing / replacing these crappy window regulators that seem to break all the time!

I too would like to know how to get to them and what it takes to repair/replace one. My driver side passenger door window made a large snap on lowering with window and I had to manually raise it and now it's duct-taped up as it slides down from road travel.

Lightbar

I am sure you can remove it but you will be left with mounting holes in the roof. I am not sure if ahy of the oftermarket bars will line up with the same holes. Could be wrong though.

Here is the info from my service manual:
LIGHT BAR LAMPS
The optional light bar (auxiliary off-road) lamps system the Body Control Module (BCM), the light bar switch on the
instrument panel, and the ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster. For all North American markets, the light bar switch
receives battery voltage on a fused ignition switch output (run-start) circuit, which enables the switch to energize the
lamps whenever the ignition switch is in the On or Start positions. For markets outside of North America, the light
bar switch receives battery voltage from the park lamp relay in the Junction Block (JB) on the park lamp relay output
circuit, and monitors an input from the low beam driver output circuit of the low beam relay in the JB, which enables
the switch to energize the light bar lamps only with the park lamps On and the low beam headlamps Off.
The light bar lamps have a path to ground at all times through a take out and eyelet terminal of the instrument panel
wire harness that is secured by a nut to a ground stud on the left instrument panel end bracket (left-hand drive) or
the center of the instrument panel support structure (right-hand drive). The light bar switch controls light bar lamp
operation by providing battery voltage from a fused B(+) fuse in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) to the lamps
on the lightbar switch output circuit. When the lightbar switch output circuit is energized, the light bar switch also
provides an input to the BCM on the lightbar switch sense circuit. The BCM then provides the appropriate electronic
messages to the EMIC over the Programmable Communications Interface (PCI) data bus to control operation of the
light bar indicator, the high beam indicator, or both indicators as required by the market for which the vehicle was
manufactured.

For what it's worth

Disable the auto lock feature

Is there a way to disable the auto door locking feature on an "07 Liberty ? It is so annoying, every time you get out of the car and want to open the back door it's locked. Drives me crazy! Thank you.
