Clean it up well and use a wire tie to keep it togetherI was replacing my oil sender unit and the tabs broke off where the red tab goes . I plugged it back in and my light still comes on and off still. What should i do next? Thanks
i was thinking it might be the pump because it started to get cold in the mornings here in SoCal . I noticed at first when i left early one morning and it started to flash but then it keep coming back on more and more as i leave in the mornings. I use amsoil and wix oil filter. How do i test/check the oil pump ? Can it be replaced? If the vanes are worn then it makes sense why there isn't enough oil pressure readings at start up.If the light is in at low rpm and off at higher rpm’s, it is possible the oil pump is starting to go and not provide the necessary flow/pressure at the lower rpm’s.
First I would clean the connector and sensor at the electrical connection. Use a zip tie of something to keep the connection tight. See what happens. If the light stays off your good to go. If it still goes on and off, personally I’d start thinking of changing the oil pump.
Before all this, I must ask. What brand oil filter and what brand/viscosity oil are you running???
Reason I ask is I had the same issue when I didn’t have much $$ to spend and used STP oil and STP filter. Changed two weeks later to Mobil 1 5w-30 oil and Mopar filter. Light stayed off until the sensor went bad.
I will check oil pressure . I use amsoil. lasted changed was about 4,000 miles ago. Level seems fine i even topped it off just in case. ThanksAt this point putting a mechanical gauge on it and seeing what the actual oil pressure is would be a good move.
Just curious, what weight oil do you use?
