Have you checked the oil?
If it is ok then more than likely it is the oil sending unit, they go bad and will cause them to come on
Oil sending unit is above the oil filter, use MOPAR brand for best results

X2 ^ The oil pressure sending unit has a 3 wire connector & located above the oil filter.
I called a dealer to confirm the current part number which is: 5149097AA & they are available.

Mine did the same thing. If it didn't blow up it is the sending unit.

Thanks everyone for helping. My oil level is good . I will replace this sending unit first. I thought it might be the oil pump.

The red light is still flashing only when i come to a stop then goes away when i drive normally with out stopping. Can the electrical connector itself be bad? I feel like the light wants to stay off.

If the light is in at low rpm and off at higher rpm’s, it is possible the oil pump is starting to go and not provide the necessary flow/pressure at the lower rpm’s.

First I would clean the connector and sensor at the electrical connection. Use a zip tie of something to keep the connection tight. See what happens. If the light stays off your good to go. If it still goes on and off, personally I’d start thinking of changing the oil pump.

Before all this, I must ask. What brand oil filter and what brand/viscosity oil are you running???

Reason I ask is I had the same issue when I didn’t have much $$ to spend and used STP oil and STP filter. Changed two weeks later to Mobil 1 5w-30 oil and Mopar filter. Light stayed off until the sensor went bad.

i was thinking it might be the pump because it started to get cold in the mornings here in SoCal . I noticed at first when i left early one morning and it started to flash but then it keep coming back on more and more as i leave in the mornings. I use amsoil and wix oil filter. How do i test/check the oil pump ? Can it be replaced? If the vanes are worn then it makes sense why there isn't enough oil pressure readings at start up.

Ok so I unplugged the oil sender unit and the red light stood on. I plugged back in and same flashing issue periodically while driving . Could it be the connection to the harness? I have a strong start up and idle so it cant be the pump . Can i just bypass the connection some how ?

At this point putting a mechanical gauge on it and seeing what the actual oil pressure is would be a good move.

Just curious, what weight oil do you use?

I will check oil pressure . I use amsoil. lasted changed was about 4,000 miles ago. Level seems fine i even topped it off just in case. Thanks

I got the pressure reading at 4psi at parking idle . upon start up it went from 15 psi to under 10psi. I revved it to about 3000rpm and i got some pressure at 25psi barely.
How is that my engine is still running fine with this? Im going to do an oil flush and see what happens . Maybe its time for an early oil change at least before i do the oil pump .
