Rock Krawler Suspensions

A little over a year ago I traded my KJ for a 2 door JK. Since then I've joined some JK specific forums. In the JK world Rock Krawler Suspensions is an awesome company with awesome products, however most KJ owners think they leave something to be desired. What gives?

BTW, I like my JK but I still miss my Libby. Wish I could kept both.

Look at what they provide for the JK, a complete lift system
now look what they have for the KJ, a longer clevis, with grade 5 bolts
You're talking about two completely different ways to lift
And they are just OK from what I have read in the JK world,
lots better lifts out there

grade 5 would be an improvement over what they provide, ive heard that most of their stuff ships with grade 2 hardware, unless i heard wrong

Yeah, now that you mention it they do only sell clevis lifts. I think I was confusing them with Rocky Road Outfitters.

There are so many lifts for wranglers out there it can
cause you to get a head ache
I know the R/K high end coilover lift is good
But then again so is using a long are kit from Clayton
and coilovers from Fox or King
You could even get the long arms from Rustys
I guess what I am saying is that as far as "basic lifts"
there are better choices same for high end
but in the end it is all about budget

What jk world is this? The land Rover jeep hating club? Rk is pretty great. For quality if say maybe aev is better but rk is more cost efficient and the life time abuse proof warranty pretty much seals the deal. My busted track bar I never greased is being covered at shipping cost.

Yes AEV of course is great and a lot of others I've read and seen are better from what owners say
Teraflex is good but have had issues with their steering stabilizers
OME HD coils and shocks are a good alternative of course
Rubicon Express is also not a bad kit from the people who have tried them
Just that Rock Krawler is not mentioned much at all when JK owners start talking about better lifts
No hate on JKs or Land Rovers
So chill out

I'm not talking about that at all. I'm Talking about rk. Since ome doesn't make adult sized lifts for jk's, they really can't be in the discussion. Rubicon express used to be great. Like sky jacker, their quality has slid. No lift is perfect and honestly the best way to make one is Frankenstein it. But saying rk isn't top 3 in popularity from jk guys is just not true.

Adult size???
I think you'll find most go JK owners go with 3 inch or so lift since you can run 35s real easy or even 37s with some trimming

But its not worth my time discussing it
I was raised on a farm and tried a long time to have a good discussion with a Bull

The general opinion on JK-Forum.com and JKOwoners.com is that Rock Krawler products are great quality and their warranties are excellent. From my research and experience, there aren't very many suspension lifts on the market that are "complete". They all seem to be missing at least one componet.

I haven't decided on a particular company yet, but I do have a list of componets I plan to buy. The componets are 2.5-3" coils w/shocks, adjustable front track bar, rear track bar relocation bracket, and adjustable front lower control arms.

Go over to Expedition Portal and read through the various posts there on lifts.
They are more of the guys who use them on long trips over varied terrain

What tires size are you wanting. How much do you plan on wheeling? Plan on towing?

Since my JK is a daily driver and I don't have an assload of money to spend on gas, I'll probably be running 35's at the max. I think 34's would be more practical. I don't get offroad nearly as much as I'd like, but when I do I want to know what I have under my Jeep is going to work. Here's my JK as it sits right now.

I love it
"adult sized lift"
Bigger lift and bigger tires always makes
the Jeep more capable
Yet for some reason my TJ on 33's makes
Jeeps on 35's or bigger look silly all day long
and just think
when I add the tube fenders I will clear 35's
All this on a "modified" 2 1/2" lift
Which by all reckoning is not "adult sized"

You do realize that there is very little difference
between the suspension on a TJ or a JK
The stock shocks are even the same length
The difference is in how the components are mounted
Learn to weld and the TJ is the same
I did it to mine and now I am upping my game
Even considering coilovers
But I doubt I will see much of that in the JK world
if it don't bolt on it don't go on a JK

It all depends on what he wants to do with it. 900 for the aev is high priced compared to Teraflex or rk (the 2 I looked at). Mine was a shade over 7 with shocks for a 3.5.
