Better off just keeping it attached, less likely to blow a CV and front shock from over extension/compression(even with extended bumpstops). You will get just as much flex with the swaybar attached as disco'd on a KJ.

In 11 years I've never disco'd my front swaybar, heck now that I did the SFA swap I still don't disco the bar.Granted I have the Currie AntiRock up front so no need.

I don't see where leaving a swaybar connected helps. this thing flexes out worse than my stock cherokee.

We've tried both ways on the same day
wasn't worth the effort plus like TJKJ stated lets the suspension drop out too far
Not worth doing it

It has a detroit rear.

I'd go solid axle before I'd wheel it then....which won't be happening.

If disconnects were a good idea, I was going to put them on just in case I get the urge to do some light wheeling at the badlands. not like I expected to make it on the pink trail or anything, but just a bit of fun.

from the pics on jba's site, doesn't look like they really helped flex anyways. darn front coil springs are pretty stiff huh?

Not the case.

When lifting a KJ the front shocks are the same if stock or lifted so you will not get any more flex then a totally stock KJ and why disco's don't do anything for a KJ.Plus you gotta think the CV's will only go so far and will the LCA/UCA bushings before damage is caused.

I've done many harder trails with my KJ when it was still IFS with a DTT/ARB combo and never had any issues, both here in Colorado and MOAB.Heck my buddy did Hells Gate(Hells Revenge in MOAB) in his KJ with IFS(dual ARB's).

And yes doing a SFA,right way, will gain you alot more flex.

I couldn't justify the hacking to do SFA. it would almost literally cost me nothing but time and material, but there's no way I'd ever put a dana 30 in a custom job. I wouldn't even consider a 44, as I've broken those (easily) as well, and by the time I do a 60 front, I'd be doing a 60 rear.....

That gets me to a point of just doing it right and starting a buggy from scratch. I've done about every lift style possible on MJ's or XJ's, and in the end, the only thing that really limits you is the vehicle that you're doing that kind of work on.

Am I incorrect in that the CV's have more flexability than Ujoints? I know that, in stock form, they are not necessarily as strong as Ujoints, but they can be.

Just curious
have you ever taken the KJ of yours off road and see what it can do?
You maybe surprised in where you can go

We've only done light stuff with it. Wheeling places are all about 3 hours or more away from us, and we have had built mjs or xjs for that.

I don't doubt that it is quite capable, but the honest fact is that we didn't buy it to wheel. it was a cool looking "grocery getter" for us at the time, and aside from the cool look of it, I didn't respect what it is at the time.

Really, we are just planning on DDing it...but I did want to do alot of things to make it more capable, even though my purposes are primarily "mall crawling". make it look cool, know it's capable, be able to use it if I want.
