2¾" of rain. Iced up overnight, accidents freaking everywhere. Gee, let me think about this: a crap-ton of rain then the temps dipped to 24° overnight. I guess there might be ice I should be careful about on the roads.

Nope. They didn't have that thought process. Something like 100 accidents in a 15-mile radius of me this morning. People are stupid.

I hate rain in the winter.

No new snow here. I don't have a plow so I got my Skidoo running and ready for the season.

Playing in 22" of fresh snow in my back yard. Got stuck twice and most important of all kids had a blast!

This Liberty pickup project is slow going, I spend too much time playing and not enough time working on the Jeep.

take pictures and write up how it goes. That may be my next upgrade, after I get around to the rack bushings.

Guess I never did a write up or anything on my CORE 4X4 LCAs on the 03,
but then when you unbolt the old stock ones and bolt in the new ones ,it's not very exciting at all
well at least IMO

Took twice as long to jack it up, remove the tires , put it on jackstands and grab the tools than it did swapping them out and installing new ones . Then I had to reinstall tires, take it off jackstands etc

added, ....got mine in Kawasaki Green , just like the Crane diff cover came in when new Y E A R S ago

What's the benefit of the JJ's of standard bushings? Strength? Flexibility? Smoother suspension action?

I should unpack my new pressure washer (old one finally died) and go to town cleaning the jeep.
also my outside water spigot is down; vacuum breaker failed. need to order a new one.
will have to do the ol' garden hose off the hot water tank drain thing.

Also, anyone got any pictures/drawings of how the vacuum controlled blend door actuator is hooked up, and where the bits are located under the dash? Even though it's working again I want to investigate in more depth as to what might have gone wrong. I'm almost thinking at this point, that somehow water might have gotten in and froze in the box.

Elsewhere on this board are links to the service manuals for your year of KJ/KK. For my '04 it's on page 24-25 and gives a complete breakdown on how to remove & install that unit. The blend door on my year is located on top of the HVAC unit under the dash and the electrical connection to it is viewable once you remove the glovebox.

Ok. I'm digging through my copy for the 2006 MY (never could find a 2007, and that bothers me, as there's some important ignition/throttle differences)

Trying to figure out what combination of doors would give me the symptoms I experienced: virtually NO air flow out of any of the vents, definitely no powered flow through the floor vents (but, at travel speeds I was DEFINITELY getting cold ambient air blowing on my feet; ask my frozen toes about that one!) Recirc door #4 seemed to work fine, and would change the sound of the blower motor working. I could barely feel any air moving out the defrost vent on top of the dash, but it was sort of there. I'm not 100%, but I don't think the temperature control was working either. I'm kind of wondering, the blend door #2 and the mode-air door #5, could they somehow have gotten themselves hung up against each other?

Then as i'm reading more, I find this:

I'm reminded of, the day before the storm, I went in and did 2 things:
1) installed the GROM bluetooth module in the jeep. (required pulling the center stack apart a little)
2) fiddled with the plow controller cable (which routes through the knee bolster area, which I took down briefly)

I think I need to go take a look and see... did the plow controller wiring or the mic wire for the GROM, somehow get too close to the vacuum actuators, and hung them up?

I'll be back...

ok. looked under the dash. nothing is anyplace near the vacuum actuators.
fired up the jeep and watched their movement.
one moves much quicker than the other.
the one that's higher than the other is the slow one. no idea which one that is though.

when the heat went out, I did take a moment to pull the center controls out and check and re-seat the vacuum harness to the controller, but it didn't help.

eta: at this point, I'm thinking, both mode-air doors got stuck in their 'closed' positions, preventing any air from leaving the box. I guess if it happens again I'll have to crawl under there and jiggle things.

Do not get confused between the actuators that move the air flow from dash vents to side vents to floor etc. These are vacuum actuated by a hose coming off the intake manifold on the gassers and the vacuum pump on the CRDs.
If this hose comes off or is damaged then air only comes out of the demister vents. No electrics come into play here.

Then there is the heat control that adjusts the amount of heat inside the cabin....this is controlled by Stepper motors that can fail or have bad electrical connections.
New Stepper motors have to be calibrated after installation I believe which fortunately I have not had to do!

Finally there is the Blower Resistor which can fail in that only position 4 works so it blows no air or maximum air!:(

Not trying to state the obvious here but more for general information to Noobies!;)

Yea based on the way this was behaving though, it felt all the world like air was NOT getting out of the box anyplace. The amounts I was able to feel from any of the vents, but specifically the defroster up top, with the blower on HI could easily have just been what was able to leak by closed doors.

Picked it up Friday.
They rebuilt the Transfer Case, checked all the modules, wiring, and actuators. Got a 2yr/24k warranty. All for only $1400!!

so what was broken in it, and do you have the failed bits to take pictures?
not that I've had anyone due that type of work on anything I've owned in a LONG time, but I always leave the instruction of, I want every piece you took off that's NOT going back on, in a box to be given to me. especially anything that has seals being replaced, I want to see the old ones. it keeps 'em honest.

swapped the RAZ radio in the minivan for the RBQ in the jeep. now the GROM works perfectly.
