That’s a sick hunk of basil, you’ve got there. We’re just getting into the growing season in northern MN. I’m thankful I live in an area where I can shoot the pests if necessary. We were lucky last year, though.

I’ll be picking up a pile of garden fencing on Friday. We just about doubled our garden size this weekend. Hopefully I can fit it all in the jeep with our week’s groceries.
Weirdly, I technically can't shoot the little bass turds...but silencers are legal here...

Hmmm...

Started the prep for the first three day weekend of Jeep'n trail fun. Tent/sleeping bag/air mattress rough country type lodging. Got the rv stuff from the old van set up inside to run the fridge and a power converter. Solar battery is good for three days easy. Mini-mutt Rocky is going along to keep the squirrels away. (They're bigger than him) ;)

Squirrel cage (made of galvanized steel “hardware cloth”) around seven foot tall tomato plants a year ago!

We don’t have a ton of yard space in Philly so I made raised beds to make the most of what we have. Those are cucumbers in the pot by the railing and a bunch of different herbs across the front box.

The little varmints focus almost entirely on tomatoes when they can get them, but leave the herbs alone. Note all the orange tomato skin fragments on the ground. They love the middles and leave the tomato skins!
You need an air rifle!

Never heard of oil seals being replaced on mileage, if don't leak, I think it's safe to leave alone.
it's not uncommon for setups with belts to have various seals replaced as well.
example: any of the chrysler 2.4L engines, when you do the timing belt at 90k, you do the water pump and cam seals. Chrysler (used to) sell a master kit with all those bits in it. if the water pump fails or the cam seals start to leak, you're doing a timing belt job essentially anyways to replace any of those parts. Also, the water pump has a tendency to fail at 120k or so.
I've also seen suggestions to change the front crank seal every other timing belt job (assuming you get that far.)
when we pulled the kid's car apart to put in a new clutch, I replaced the rear main seal. it wasn't leaking, but the car is 19 years old with 198k miles on it at the time. the probability the seal was going to give up before the replacement clutch did, made the extra $15 and 10 minutes worth the peace of mind.

if you're not doing certain jobs yourself, it's wise to examine what bits might be replaced as preventative maintenance, especially if they're expensive to get to.

Got my Jeep back. They replaced the evap canister. Here's hoping the crummy light stays off.

Since I try to be a "make the most of a problem" kind of person I had them install the gas tank skid plate while there (they did that at no charge!) and also had the new tensioner that has been riding around in the back of the Jeep forever put on.

While I have your attention, is the engine skid plate dependent on the transmission skid plate for installation? The mechanic said there were no mounting points for it. Bonus points if someone can help me locate a transmission skid along the way.

The back of the engine skid and the front of the transmission skid use the same mounting points/bolts. The transmission skid slides under the engine skid so when moving forward it cant’t catch on stuff.

Nah, I'm in suburbia and the local ordnance is so strict that any "propelled or thrown projectile" clause includes nerf blasters and other toys... lots of wimpy city people here- I once had the cops visit because a neighbor saw me throw my axe while splitting wood. Kids get busted all the tume playing nerf in their yards.

Checked the PS Fluid - seemed a little bit high... Might be time for a hillbilly flush.

Re-wrapped the paracord I have on the interior grab bars, as seen here:


Cleaned it up and reorganized my onboard tools. Somehow they never seem to end up back where they belong when I grab something for a quick job. :rolleyes:

Did some general cleanup and tied off a few loose wires under the dash.

Have a new roof rack arriving Tuesday, which will have to wait until later in the week because our esteemed colleague lfhoward will be dropping off a full set of skid plates in the middle of the week. I got the gas tank skid on there late last week and as soon as I figure out what hardware I need I intend to finish this off. I got a lot of yard work done in April (which was generally better weather than May has been so far this year) and it allows me the luxury of doing Jeep work before summer actually gets here.
