Am in the middle of trying to replace the leaky rtv on my front diff cover. Had no problem until I got to the lower control arm front cam bolt. The nut came off easy, but the cam bolt wont come out. I've soaked overnight with wd-40, hammered, raised, lowered, the bolt wont even turn with my impact driver. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Heat, that’s the only option other than cutting

not really jeep related, but took Bluebert to what we call "Sausage Fest" where we eat meat and ride bikes. Fathers and sons this time, with the motto "you can't hang if you ain't got a wang". Good times with our boys and bro's!
Meat and bikes! Good times :)

How much dynmat did you use? So far i only have the 36cubic feet package installed on the bottom I only need a little more to finish, but it doesnt seem to be that heavy to cause issues.
VW bugs are a little different than other cars given the design. To fully insulate one you are looking at close to 200 sq ft. Given it was a fac resto mod with a 1300cc single carb, I couldn't doo the easy thing and put a 1941cc dual webber in to overcome the added mass. LOL

Lots of videos on flushing an automatic, they're all very similar with minor variations. Choose the method you like best.

Must see if those blades are available here, never managed to cut anything other sheet metal with either of my sawzalls.
I use Lenox blades, absolutely brilliant, they are taller than normal blades and much more ridged, in my big Makita they eat anything.

Never heard of them, but a company that specialises in blades (primarily for metal) is good enough for me. Choice is a bit bewildering, which do you recommend. I get the coarser teeth for thicker metal, but there seems to be more to it than that.

p.s. if they tame my, essentially, unusable Makita, that'd be a bonus.

Decide to drain the coolant on the 04.KJ and to my surprise found grey sludge in the coolant. might be looking like a head gasket failure. Trying to weigh my options now.

you the original owner?
if not, maybe someone put the wrong juice in at some point, causing a reaction.

The correct HOAT coolant should be reddish (Mopar) or golden (Zerex G-05). If it was greenish, the wrong coolant was used.

Not sure that sludge (of any colour) indicates HG issue - unless it is the result of some quick-fix sealant, even then it was probably because of a lesser leak.

At this stage stage, I'd be content with a good visual inspection of the cooling system, a thorough back flush & refill of 50/50 HOAT & water.

I’m not the original owner of the car. I used Prestone HOAT (orange)only or distilled water. I done changed the radiator, thermostat, thermostat hosing, upper and lower coolant hoses and the overflow tank. I never realized anything strange with the coolant while doing these multiple jobs all at different times. The problem occurred when I let my brother in law borrow the Jeep, he said that he was driving and it started smoking and the car stalled. i pulled up not too long ago and try to figure out what happened. I saw that the return hose on the overflow tank was a little close to the coolant bleeder valve and it caused a pin size hole and it sprayed the coolant all over. The real problem is how long was the car overheating till he realized or did he just drive the car not paying attention to the temperature gauge till the car crapped itself out. Either way this is my first time seeing the grey sludge and it was plenty of it.

I have a bunch of work to do on my Jeep before I take it on any long trip or adventure, like replacing a water pump and thermostat, and maybe replacing a leaking steering rack. But I also have a Torq locker sitting on my workbench and would love to get that installed as well.

Assuming I can get it all together before 2024 (LOL kinda), I would love to try out the locker with some light wheeling. I know Rausch Creek is only a couple of hours away but that seems a little risky for my high mileage daily driver. Does anyone here do any wheeling in the NJ Pine Barrens or on forest roads in southeast PA? I would be potentially interested in meeting up on a weekend for some wheeling with someone who can pull me out if I get stuck. So far I do not have a winch on my rig.

I would flush out the entire cooling system. If at any point global coolant is used with 5 year or 10 year (HOAT), you will get sludge (gelling) and it will clog your heater core and rad..... trust me we make a lot of money of those;)

There’s always pulling the traction control fuse…

Or if you really want to make it convenient, there’s always this mod:
I'll be doing something similar eventually, but a bit more integrated into the PDU and neater.
there's a couple spare/unused fuse and relay openings in the PDU, and I have an extra PDU I picked up, so I can get all the right wiring with the right terminals on it, it make it look factory.
