New Shoes - Falken Wildpeak AT Trail. I didn't really need the more off-road AT/4W. So far these things rock. On road, it feels like a Mercedes :) A short gravel road trial and sure-footed.

The old (11 years old) Yokohama Geos still had tread but developed terrible on-road noise.

Assuming it was stretchy fabric??
It was actually a fleece knit fabric with a little stretch but not a whole lot, a good tip is to buy more than one can of the headliner adhesive because it’ll only get halfway through the wrap. The one I used is the 3M Headliner spray adhesive from Autozone.


The best advice I can give though is… have at least one other person their to help you otherwise it’s a pain to remove the headliner from the car.

Luckily my mother in law is car savvy and helped a whole bunch

Finally had time to put the new AC accumulator/drier, orifice line and condensor/AT cooler in.

Most importantly, at least for us USA based "parts starved" KJ owners, I confirmed that Nissens is making a decent quality, corrosion protected, integrated AC condensor / AT cooler that is an exact drop-in replacement for the OEM KJ CRD condensor/cooler.


Yup, thats right, there was NO need to buy and add a separate AT cooler along with an aftermarket AC condensor when using this integrated condensor/cooler.
I did have to wait a couple weeks for it to come back in stock at Rockauto, but got it for $145 plus shipping. My last picture shows the tag on it with Nissens part #940323.

Once again I removed the overflow tank from the firewall (unfortunately got ahead of myself on the rebuild after the timing belt replacement) but then it was a straight forward job to remove and replace the various AC parts. A light dab of 100% silicone grease on all the replacement seals and o-rings made it all plug back together smoothly.

Also tested both high and low speed electric cooling fan relays by jumping terminals 87 and 30 on each of them and they work. Though it seems to me like the high setting should spin even faster then it does, there is an audible difference in speed between the two relays.

Still need to add a piece of 10 mesh SS wire cloth between the fan and new condensor to act as a removable bug screen and fin protector.

And will soon take it to a local repair shop to have them empty and refill the AC system :D

Recently I've noticed my front tyres have become quite noisy and yesterday while at a cement plant I noticed both front tyres have lost their shape but not through wear. I have the one inch H&R springs all round. The tyres are 10k old. Thoughts pls!

Hard to tell but it looks like the alignment is not right. Got another pic from a bit further back?

Could be simply too much camber setting but also could be worn parts or bushings.
Time to look for excessive play in any and all front end suspension components or have a reputable or competent tire alignment shop check for suspension component wear and set alignment at the same time. Reputable and competent are key words here. ;)

Time to rotate the tyres front to back and check the alignment, I can't see what you mean by lost shape from the picture, what make are they? I've just had to replace the 2 front tyres on my wife's jeep, they wouldn't balance, when the tyre shop popped them off the rims they were full of loose rubber, the inside was peeling off, only 50% of the tread had gone and they were date coded 2020 but as always cheap Chinese stuff is cheap for a reason. It's now riding on Falkens and all the shaking is gone along with the chance of a blowout. I hate cheap tyres!

No. I'm a bit lost on the "lost shape" bit but that wheel does look to be at an odd angle - in 2 planes.

However, that tyre shows no abnormal wear pattern, which I'd expect with any alignment, & some worn component, issues.

Love seafish's suggestion, oh my, how the other half live! We don't have such establishments: tracking's done at a tyre shop (they might have fancy 4 wheel laser alignment kit - but as nothing else is usually adjustable, they really needn't bother) & the only wear they'd find is something obvious like tie rod ends, which shows up in the course of adjustment.

Oh, & good to have back in the fold, even if it was a possible problem that meant you couldn't allow life to get in the way any longer.
