Insurance Companies and Lawyers are the problems with vehicles
I hope and pray it never comes that they win out.
The whole issue with gas tanks is rather stupid. Of course they are at the rear but that does not mean that everytime you get tapped in the back its going to explode.
Get tired of reading this crap and then people saying " OH BOY we now get free stuff" or " Great now we get a new vehicle"
If they were that concerned they would of already bought a stronger gas tank skid or more protection like a steel bumper instead of sitting waitng on someone to give them something:shrug::favorites68:

I have been rear ended in my jeep by a small car i have the tow package with the hitch in the back when i got out to check for damage i had none the guys hood caught my tire and his bumper got my tow hitch both were pretty smashed up i told him this ***** for you i am good he said good i dont have insurance i said we are good then he said thanks ha ha thanks your front end is smashed and your thanking me i expected the spare to go flat never did still holds air just fine

Oh great, now he can be someone else's problem, maybe he'll eff up someones life better next time. All the more reason to have called the cops, some people have to learn the hard way. :shrug:

To be honest i felt bad for the guy he had a ratty car ratty clothes 6am just trying to get to work i live in a primarily hispanic neighborhood if it was some ghetto hood rat wearing black and red i wouldnt have hesitated calling the police but this guy legal or illegal was just trying to put food on the table for his family he wasnt doing anything wrong it was slippery and i had to jam brakes his ratty car couldnt stop like my jeep can he slid right into me agree or not is what it is that was two years ago now

And i think letting him off was lesson enough if he is able to get insurance i think he would no one wants to have everything they got on someone else deciding to call the cops because they are uninsured

X2. My TJ(damn I miss that rig) was totaled because I got hit by a drunk driver at 9am on a Monday. The lady ran a red light on top of that and didn't have insurance. Thankfully I had JUST dropped the kids off at school, and nobody was hurt. The thousands of dollars in mods went down the drain in the matter of seconds. The cop said that was her 5th DUI and she hasn't had a liscense in 6yrs...and that's then type of people that drive around without insurance.

The uninsured and unlicensed are also ones who are likely to perfect their "hit & run" skills whenever possible. But that's ok, the rest of us who do play by the rules will chip in, in the form of higher rates.

2 of the 4 that have hit me so far have had insurance.
One ( uninsured) was unlucky enough to be the first car ( PT Snoozer) of 6 cars that had a pile up behind me. The PT was shoved up into me , cop was sitting 25 foot away at a light watching it happen so I assume the owner of the PT was hauled away. Wrong place at the wrong time LOL
All 6 had to be towed away, I drive away with only some paint to touch up on the gas tank skid and hitch on that one.
Other uninsured hit me , pulled over , ran up said "I have no insurance are you hurt? " I said no his response was here's 200 bucks will you take it and not call the cops? He handed me the money then jumped in his Concorde and pulled away, I took picture, called cops ......:Bye:

It's funny because I had mine come on and I had to pay to get it fixed before my MA state inspection.

We don't have regular state inspections in MD other than emissions every two years. Quite a shock when I moved from PA where yearly inspections were thorough. Here you have one initial inspection when you purchase or move in and register the vehicle and then you are good forever except for emissions. My emission test always falls in the winter and the light goes out when the temp. drops below about 40F.
