Re-installed the front diff (with Powertrax, outer bearings, & seals) and new CV shafts a couple days ago.

Wow - talk about smooth! :D This is the quietest the front end has ever been. Probably helps the Spicer bearings are actual roller needles and not just worn-out, hard plastic bushings. Plus the new intermediate shaft.

Locker is completely invisible in 2wd. Only a brief test in 4wd on a dirt road down the street. Can definitely feel the traction. It pulls like a front-wheel drive car when you tromp on the gas!:icon_surprised:

Sweet rig! We'll be towing our 16' with a Mercury 135hp inline 6 behind my Libby.

Except for me stalling the jeep a couple times (my fault), I couldn't even tell the boat was behind me. And I have the four ******. Your boat looks a lot cleaner than mine. haha.

That was the day after we brought it home and my wash slaves had just cleaned 20 years of dirt and leaves out of it ;)

The bf's dad was a Mercury/Glastron/Tee Nee dealer and that rig was his last demo model setup. It's a '71 trio. We need to replace the floor and, possibly, the seats, but not bad for a 42-yr old rig. We have a river and boat ram a mile from the house. Can go upriver where it's a bit calmer or downriver to the mouth at the Chesapeake Bay where it's a bit busier and, usually, rougher.

I think mine's a 79. Theres a pretty hefty layer of pine needles and leaves in it. If all else fails, I think there's enough empties scattered throughout to make my money back in aluminum. :fish_h4h:

His dad's 82 now and dealing with the boat at the ramp became too much for them, so it sat for 20 years under oak and pine trees. He always had a tarp on it and it tipped up so it'd drain out the plug, but you can't keep everything out.

It's a lot of fun. I like to go fast...and so does the bf and his daughter. We have a 16-gal tank and a 12-gal tank so we are less likely to run out while tooling around. Remarkably, we only had to change one little section of the wiring with a good wiring harness we already had, just because the insulation on every wire had cracked and disintegrated. The bf put new color-coded heat shrink on every wire in the good harness just to make sure it didn't happen again.

And I like that the Jeep doesn't know it's back there :)

I know, right? I'm waiting for one day when I look in the rear view mirror to check up on it and don't see it.

I've never owned a boat before, but I worked at a small marina for a while. Always wanted one after that.

Put in the RRO arms today!

The rear bolts came out easy with a long extension and a wobbly. Ground out the pockets, and primed & painted the bare metal.

Once I was done, the tires were cambered out a whole bunch... and toed in. :disgust: I did my best with a tape measure. I dialed each LCA cam bolt 90* more outboard, and toed each tie-rod out about 1/4". It feels pretty good now, and the steering wheel is centered again! :badger_1:

Washed, clayed, polished and waxed the front end.... rain stepped in and saved my arms. Hopefully I will get the rest done tomorrow. Also the other high power LED kicked the bucket yesterday. Waiting for a reply on the other one then I will send this one back as well.
