I still have the original spring clamps on my 05.

I had my radiator done and they put screw clamps on and I asked for the old clamps and the old tank cap back, and the mechanic couldn't figure out why and refused. I snuck back after closing and yanked them from the dumpster.....just in case. The clamps have since been repainted with rust reformer and put in the plastic tote of tools and spare parts in the trunk. Grabbed the spring from the original radiator hose as well.

Made it out to flagpole yesterday and had some fun with the club. Jeep did great and suffered no broken parts. A lot of the wrangler guys were impressed by the end of the day after expecting me to take the bypass trails on most obstacles.

Spent a lot of time over the last week trying to find the source of a very annoying creaking noise in the front end, with no luck :favorites68:

A couple weeks ago I replaced the steering rack along with all tie rods, the front coilover assemblies, and sway bar bushings and end links. Drove with no issues for about 150 miles, then I took it in for an alignment.
Got the Jeep back (with steering wheel that wasn't centered anymore and one boot on the rack twisted several times...), drove it for about a 100 miles with no issues, and then this creaking noise started.

Happens mostly during turns at low speed, and during the last second or so when coming to a full stop, and then again when releasing the brakes.

I centered the steering wheel myself, and loosened and re-torqued all the suspension components that I had touched (with the wheels on the ground). The noise is a little less bad now, but it's definitely still there, and I have no clue what's causing it.

All front suspension bushings and ball joints are Moog Problem Solvers, with 20k miles on them. They all still seem to be in good condition.

New rotors and pads for the front and rear. Turns out the front warped, still miffed they do not have Brembo blanks anymore for this car. I put them on my fathers JGC and they have been flawless. I picked up a front set of rotors/pads from powerstop but they may have been faulty from the get go.

Going back to CarQuest Wearever rotors and their Platinum Ceramic pads.

Also picked up a rear upper control arm and snagged a set of MOPAR rear lower arms, figured I'd do both since I did springs and shocks back there already.

Also, can anyone identify the difference here. I got the MOPAR part that shows a pretty smooth lower control arm for the rear but also noticed a different looking version. Is that for the Renegade or other models only?

The part you got is the new style that replaced the old style under the recall in rust belt states.

picked up a front 4.10 diff for 170$ and ordered master install for the rear 4.10s

^ Interesting read.

I had a guy stop me as I was pulling out of the parking lot at church Sunday and tell me mine was the first lifted Liberty he had ever seen. He then showed me a picture of his Wrangler doorhandle-deep in a mud bog.

He was very complimentary, though.

I don't agree. Solid axles work way better off road than IFS. Can it work for some? Yeah. But the difference is astounding on a real trail.

Also at this point in the great white North, I find it near impossible to find a KJ without some semblance of rust on the doors or body. I know the XJ suffers some of the same consequences, but I feel like they started at an older age. And you can still find a decent XJ without body rust.

I agree for low speed off road solid axles is the way to go. For high speed long travel independent all the way around is the best.

I see no benefit to a solid axle unless rock crawling, which means ifs is better in most off-road and on road situations. That might be why most cars and trucks have independent suspension. Or maybe engineers are all idiots, ya that must be it.

i just thought it raised some interesting thoughts on how the view or feelings of something that is slightly different for brand can change over time. dont get me wrong its easier to make a xj an off road beast vs the kj/kk but some people have shown what can be done with enough time, energy, motivation and money.

Both are equivelent. Number 1 is what was standard in the recall as the fix.

number 2 is what came standard on my 2007and probably other years.
