What did you do to your jeep today?

194,000 miles and going strong. This past month I've done the following;

• Catalytic converter replacement. Used a Pacesetter direct fit with great success, be sure to get a new set of flange bolts and brackets. Had a little trouble getting one of the rusted bolts off, air chisels help. Paid $239 for the new and got $140 from local scrap yard for the old, not a bad trade off.
• Ignition Coils, Plugs, Air filter, Oil filter/change. The coils were original and just felt like it was time since I was already doing plugs. Much smoother startup and running, quieter to.

This summer before we took the car to Jersey I did the front bearings, passenger was easy but the driver was seized good on the hub so I ended up pulling the whole axle out of that side and getting a rebuilt unit. Amazed how easily it clicks into place, mounted the new bearing and all was well. Accompanied with a tire rotation and what a difference.

I am still trying to diagnose a power seat issue, cannot seem to pinpoint the problem.

Just gotta figure out which ones look better on the Libby when it stops raining. The clear matches the clear on the rear lights, but I think the smoke goes better with her black paint job.

Ran over to NAPA and picked up a set of Adaptive One pads and Ultra Premium rotors. Tomorrow's job is to install them.

This broke off when removing my rock sliders for powder coating. Now they’re done and I’d like to get them back on. This time I have stainless hardware.

I have a set of cobalt reverse drill bits for this grade 8 bolt. I also have an easy-out, though I hesitate to use it for fear it breaks off in the hole. Does anyone have any tips for drilling out rusted bolts like this. Lots of WD-40, obviously.

Checked the oil. Went to put air in the tires and found out my battery was dead. That's what I get for messing my leg up and barely driving it for seven weeks. (Three trips total in that time frame, all to the doctor.)

The CEL went out a month or so ago. Used my scanner to clear the code. Here's hoping it stays clear and I can get my dumb e-check done before it decides to return.

I went full EBC slotted + Yellow Stuff last time. I'll probably do the same again, even if I only got 4 years and 25k miles out of them. The stopping performance is extraordinary. Better make sure your dentures are fully glued in before really grabbing the binders.

Don't bother with WD-40. It's not penetrating oil, it's water displacement stuff. Get a can of PB Blaster, spray the hell out of it and tap with something metal, then do it again ½ hr later, then do it again, then do it again. The oil does take a little bit to get in there and tapping with something metal helps get it started.

Today I replaced O2 sensor upstream bank 2. It's one of the easy ones to get to anyway. Friday replaced the ambient air sensor also had new windshield installed. Just got back from driving the crap out of it. They are fun to drive.

Lots of Aerokroil , whole lot better than WD-40, PB Blaster or any of the others

Good to know. I painted scratches and chips today (especially some serious scratches to the bare metal on the roof) instead of drilling on this bolt. I’ll see if I can get some aerokroil before I attempt it.

Edit: I just ordered some Aerokroil on Amazon and it should get here on Wednesday.

I never watch YouTube videos , not even the one above. Most of them are nothing more than someone trying to make what they have as the best.

NOW with that said, after working on various cars/ trucks/ tractors etc over the last 45 years plus using a variety of different pentatrating oils etc , The best and fastest has been the Kano Aerokrol . This has included using ones put out there by GM, Ford etc even when working in dealerships and managing Goodyear stores

Call it bunk if you want but I know what works well for me and my friends

Nope. At least, not my husband, and he's been working commercial HVAC-R since '77. Before that, he used what his dad used in his shop, and it also was PB Blaster. He's never had aerokroil work better than PB in any situation and neither have I.

He will tell you that the Chrysler-made heat riser stuff worked better than even PB, but you can't get that any more.

Thats the best thing about AvE.

He is a rare gem among youtubers and isn't trying to shill anything.

The method used to test each is very scientific (he even has a control group).

He shows that each oil has some effect, but not nearly to the point the marketing makes it seem.

For example, rusted nut with nothing done to it broke free at about 150ft lbs in his video, hitting them with a hammer takes that down to about 120ftlbs, but using various penetrating oils had the same or less effect as striking them with a hammer. Only two of the penetrating oils outperformed the hammer strike (deep creep and liquid wrench).

So I shouldn't say they don't do anything because the do something, just not the miracle loosener they are sometimes made out to be.


Even knowing this, I still use them because if the oil makes it 5% easier, and hammer strike makes it 5% easier, then that's at least 10% less likely I am to bust my knuckles trying to break the thing free and I like that.

I just don't spring for the high dollar cans anymore, they are usually harder to find anyways.

Like motor oil, everyone has their choice of what is best.
My cousin has owned his own heating and air conditioning company for close to 50 years.
I know what he uses, and tried to get me using the same over 30 years ago.
So everyone has their favorite things to use.
