I sold my $1000 KJ yesterday. Now I'm on the hunt for a really good condition KJ that I won't have to spend so much time on. That cheap KJ was a great project to learn on so now going into my second KJ I know what to look for.

Drove 135 miles to the junkyard because the computer showed they had a car like mine. And I wanted the hood. I got the hood, even the same color, but not the same paint. Mine had new (looking) metal flake (factory) and this is just a cheap color repaint.
But from a distance it'll be fine, maybe for a while, anyway.
Got gas. 22.25 mpg. Not bad for a 13 year old lumber wagon.
I been driving the car to work, with no hood. Closer to 40 mpg that way, tho' I do enjoy driving the Jeep. 22 miles each way, 44 a day for 5 days. It adds up.
I'd like to get going on the Jeep transmission fluid and filter, but instead I'm going to work on getting the hood on the car and lined up and otherwise into good shape. I'm not much on body work. But it's not rocket science, you just do it. Some guys get it done so perfectly it's ridiculous, other guys always get a best so so. So so is good enough for a 17 year old car with 142k miles. But with 60k easy yet to go.

Changed the u-joints because of a vibration during acceleration only. Based on the shape the crosses are in, I am sure I resolved the problem. (Knock on wood since I have not test driven it yet.)

Replaced the front diff seals, removed the needle bearing on the passenger side and ditched the moog end links for Napa brand.
Unreal that this whole time my constant clunking was that bearing. The replacement intermediate shaft had no wear on it nor did the surface where it rides on the bearing (finger nail test)
Installed the new crown shaft anyways. I did notice the part of the shaft from the clip to the end is longer on the new one. Both crown brands.

Installed my used rock lizard bumper and my homemade tire carrier.
I used Rustoleum Charcoal Gray spray paint, it was by far the closest to matching the gray fender flairs. (I have tried 5 different colors and brands)

Took it for a drive, and no more driveshaft vibrations either.

This was yesterday, but close enough! I bought a new to me 2005 Liberty! Silver, very minimal options list, nearly new tires, zero accidents, new AC pump and lines, smooth suspension and driveline. Runs like a dream! Fix list is VERY short. It seems like it was really well cared for. I sure wish I could have found one in a different colour than silver, but getting something mechanically sound is better than something in the right colour.

Had time to get the PCV hose on the 07. By far easiest swap/install of a part I've ever done on this vehicle. Not even a 5 minute swap.

You've likely got stock suspension, which basically means no suspension. You'll want to fit ome (not oem) springs and shocks or bilstein shocks. Do some reading and searching on this site and you'll find your parts list.
Check the lower ball joints first thing, if bad replace with Moog greaseable ones,
they will creak when ready to fall apart
Next thing is you sway bar bushings, they will squeak when bad or if its cold out and worn
Then stock suspension is junk with 5 miles on them
I've had them with less than 70,000 miles and setting almost two inches lower than new stock height and will cause some strange groans

Finally flushed the heater core. Changed plugs and coils. Flushed the whole coolant system to get the stop leak out and changed thermostat. I am now almost 100% sure my heat/cool blend door actuator needs replaced. Heater works great on 1 and 2. A/C works great on all 4 speeds but either all cold or all hot. No in the middle

So far I OCDed the inside wasn't much just a couple things that were bugging me , Cleaned windows, shined tires , Peanutbuttered fenders then ran out of stuff to do
