Got the brake fluid done last week, and I'll be dropping my car off at a driveshaft shop to have the differential checked out. I'm riding with the fiance to spend Christmas in San Diego, and I'm looking forward to sipping margaritas on the beach while the rest of y'all freeze!
Joke’s on you, I’ll be sipping hot brandy while wrapped up in a blanket. Ha!

While y'all enjoy the heat, I slid out on the ice yesterday and snapped the rear axle shaft, in addition to bending the rotor, wheel, shock, and lower rear control arm on the drivers side. Where do I get good replacement parts? I'm at 119k and I don't want rusty high mileage replacements. Also, I have the rare CRD diesel so lots of the parts are different from the gas models. All because I forgot to turn on my 4X4 when I got off the highway; I hit some ice, the LSD kicked in and I was backwards and over the curb before I could stop it. Front end seems fine, but the back is really messed up.

Pretty sure suspension parts are the same besides heavier springs in front. Wrecking yard would be my first stop. With that kind of damage there's a good chance your axle housing and upper control arm could be damaged too.

There's a recall on the lower control arms so you might be able to get them free. New rotors and shocks, scrapyard wheel.

I was planning a suspension upgrade already, so I'll probably be getting OME springs and shocks. I'll check on the control arms, should I just get Mopar ones? they're pretty cheap on rockauto. The axle housing has a small dent at the end of the housing and the lower portion of the shock mount is twisted. I work collision repair, so I believe that those are repairable, but we'll see.

Before you buy a rear upper control arm compare it to the Iron Rock Offroad kit.

And we're done with the timing chain replacement! Just need to wait until the 26th to grab some lithium grease, coolant, and oil and then I get to see how badly I ruined my timing by DIYing it!

I put in some puddle lamps in the side view mirrors today - cheap little mod that lights up the outside of the car when you unlock the doors. Was easy to wire them up to the interior lights as my truck is a sport and does not have the interior lamps in the footwells but the wiring is there so it was plug and play :)

So there's some wiring already somewhere down there for where lights would be for the floor mats essentially? Beings those are led, makes me want to do both the mirrors, and get the footwells also.

Mine has lights underneath the glovebox and dash, with a white lens. Maybe the sockets are there without lamps?

Ok - so I removed the mirrors and ran the wires for the lights through the harness for the power mirrors. There is a cover that pops off on the mirror where it folds in - this is how you can get the wires into the mirror housing behind the glass. Next you have to pull the boot off that runs between the door and the body. Easiest way to do this is to first unbolt the door check strap from the body and the door and push it into the door. Starting on the door side pop the boot out of the door - it is held in by a plastic retainer similar to the other side - be carefully not to break the plastic part, it is fragile. I then pulled the rubber boot off the clip and then pushed the boot and clip into the door. The boot on the body side actually says where to push to get it out of the body - you are just squeezing some clips and it will pop out of the body. Unplug the orange harness and you can access the connector. I drilled two holes in the bottom part of the connector to pass my wires through - ran the wires from the mirror, through the boot and into the car. I also removed the door speaker to help get my hand up into the door. The body harness from the door passes through another one of these clip style grommets above the kick panels - I removed the kick panels to get better access then put a small cut in the boot and ran the wires through. I found the interior lamp wires, cut the plug off and connected the wires from the doors - lights work!

You can see that the factory wires for the lights (red and blk/wht) are tapped to this harness under the steering column and on the passenger side they are tapped to the harness just infront of the blower resistor - this side was easy to see with a small mirror.

Not to my Jeep, but I replaced a ton of broken plastic fasteners in the door cards of my in-laws’ WJ. No more rattle when they close the doors.

Ex still has the 07, hadn't heard from her in awhile. Decided to meet up for coffee earlier this week and noticed it seems to be burning a tad bit of oil. Exhaust had a tiny bit of blue hue and smell. I'm assuming either valve seals or rings, as the little V6 has almost 200K on her.

But, not my problem as of right now. I'm sure ill get a call if/when it fully goes.
