Man, I don't know about some of those new cable-less "drive-by-wire" concepts. I drove this little '07 Infiniti X35 in Phoenix one time (rental) and it had lots of power but the throttle delay irritated the crap outta me! Totally ruined the driving experience. I hope you're not telling me the 2007 KJ is that bad...

I don’t think it’s that bad, but I hear it’s worse with a manual.

FWIW, my wife’s ’05 Pontiac G6 is drive-by-wire and I think its fine.

I am hoping that there’ll be a few software updates that will make it a little more responsive, or that there’ll be an aftermarket reflash that’ll work its magic.

One annoying thing is if you rev the engine, it takes FOREVER to slow back down. Are the “cabled” KJ’s the same way?

If I rev mine it takes about half a second to rev down... guess that's not as bad as you're talking about. Zero problems driving it though, it's surprisingly responsive

Although she loved her '98 Cherokee Sport, it was getting a little 'long in the tooth' for my wife. At ~165K miles the A/C was iffy, water pump was chirping and it was due for a few other service items as well... it was time. Ironically within two weeks of purchase, the 'new' 2005 Liberty needed a water pump (under warranty). We live in Pittsburgh (where it snows, ahh remember snow?), so 4WD is important. We have show dogs, she needs to be able to tote a couple of crates along with the occasional person or two to out-of-town dog shows.

One of the reasons she was drawn to the Liberty was that she "noticed quite a few of them on the road, so they *must* be good". So far she's very happy with her Liberty. I have yet to get a chance to drive it!

I have noticed a lot of them lately too (funny how that is), is there a model year and trim breakdown online anywhere? The more I look, the more permutations I see. Small fog lights in the grille, big fogs on bumper, big lights on the roof, Renegades with exposed wheelwell fasteners, Sport model, Freedom package, Limited, chrome front facia, different wheels, etc.

Sorry for the rambling post,

Nah, mine would take several seconds. If I rev it up decently, maybe 4-5 seconds? It REALLY takes a long time.

I guess that's why I buy American.

I have had many manual drive vehicles in the past, and for now, I'd rather have an auto. I don't plan on turning my Jeep into an off-road beast. More of a daily driver and weekend trip ride. Other vehicles cannot compare. So far I have to say it's been the best choice so far. Less than a month owned and not regretting a single bit. Next step is a quality undercoating to make sure my Jeep stays nice.
