Was getting some clunking on Saturday so I did some inspection and found my transmission mount to be sagging. Replaced it in October 2022 with a crown automotive brand. Even filled voids with 3m window weld and it all squished out. And it was still bonking against the transfer case. Luckily still had the stock one in the junk pile and mounted it back up. It was noticeably stiffer that the crown one, even with the tearing rubber and is holding up from bonking on the transfer case.

"New" aftermarket parts quality, particularly rubber compounds, are getting terrible!!!!

Could be dust for longest time when I first got mine I heard weird squeaking ended up being rear wheel brake backing plates, you can only replacement if you take axles out terrible design they should made this a split design I replaced them once after that as they rust off ill just remove them.

Remember rears will have disc brake shoes inside the disc brake drum for emergency brake those can squeak and be misleading as well. Best thing to do is pull all wheels off inspect, get some brake cleaner and spray it clean get any excess dust out. Some pads, will have that split line in the middle of the pads, this will collect dust and make noise over time as well.
Oh yeah, I do now recall dust as a cause of squealing - just not in the last 50 years.

some brakes generate more brake dust especially with all the new friction compounds. cheap brakes will be dusty on the wheels other composites like ceramic or carbon based pads do not put off the powder on the wheels as much but will accumulate it in the line in the pad and around the pad. and create excess friction and can squeak or make a similar sound due to nature of material.

its a good idea to match you pads and rotors as a kit this way you get a rotor that isnt cheap and will wear from good carbon or ceramic pads.

i made mistake and got advauto rotors and the metal was not heat treated properly and the pads wore into the bed of rotor upon removal there where tiny pinholes in the rotors on both sides so lesson learned there.

if your pads are new check the rattle clips they bend easy and one may be touching rotor.

I never understood the idea of dust-free pads - but now I do, so thanks for that.

I have never bought into rotors as a service item & still reckon on them lasting the lifetime of the vehicle (damage, for whatever reason, aside) but, on the vary rare occasion it has been necessary I've been no means convinced that a reputable pad manufacturer, necessarily, knows any more than me about casting & machining - but then most of them don't even supply rotors.

Like all car parts (& lots else besides) who makes them is always more important than where you buy them.

Modern pads are ******* the disks, I did the disks on my wife's car a couple of months ago, they were 2mm under the minimum thickness!

As I have been unable to get a dropped hitch for my tow bar I have lifted my new trailer by using some 3" box section (all I could find laying around the yard) and as the 10" tyres were worn out, replaced them with new 12" rims and tyres. Also knocked up a new tailgate, adapting one a mate had in his junk pile. I like quick wins :) Next job steam clean.

Today was a heat shield delete. It was 100% unattached and rattling around on top of the muffler. It would also contact the driveshaft intermittently and make a terrible noise.

Anyone ever have any problems after removing one of these?
Brand new heat shield installed! Also oil change and tire rotation day. 224116 miles on the odometer.

I am keeping an eye on the rear main seal leak. It is getting worse but not critical yet.

At some point the 42RLE will need replacing with the lightly used one I have waiting in storage for that purpose. It has a good pan on it. I will address the rear main seal when I swap transmissions.

I have a leak from the bell housing too but mine is red, it's only a tiny at the moment so I'm not going to do anything yet, I just keep an eye on the level.

I should probably let it drip on a white paper towel to confirm the color of my own bell housing leak. I wiped it off today didn’t pay too much attention, but I thought it was brown like the engine oil.

I rotated the tires today and took a good look at the brakes. The pads are still decently thick and wearing evenly. The squeaking that has been driving me nuts is a missing anti-rattle clip / brake pad slider on the drivers rear inboard brake pad. Not sure what the actual name of this tiny little part is called. But the zone had a brake hardware kit for $15 that solves the problem (brake pad clips and rubber boots for the slider pins for all 4 wheels). I will see if I can get at least the one missing clip put in tomorrow. And also I would love to wash the Jeep.

nice where did you find shield i need to replace mine
