Redid brake system but left with a problem
Just to add - A brake pedal will be extrememly firm with the engine OFF. With engine running - the pedal action is 'softer' Your tell here is - Does the pedal continue to the floor with engine running. If yes, you have a leak somewhere. If just 'not what it was' before changing the brake...- DadOSix

Mysterious coolant leak....????
Check the return line on top of the coolant reservoir tank. My 06 has a habit of leaking a bit there - there is a crack in the plastic, even though the insert sleeve is still there. It’ll weep a bit when hot, and promptly dry itself up.- DadOSix

Point being : you need a diagram from electrical section in the manual to see if there is a common point - of connection - like the ground points Ivan looks at - to determine IF this is why the jeep runs poorly.- DadOSix

Congo714: check out this very helpful YT video. Granted, it is a newer jeep, but if you will indulge a bit and follow Ivan’s diagnostic process, it may be very enlightening. These KJ are old and brittle and just maybe an issue like this ground gremlin is causing your problems.- DadOSix

2.8l crd start issues.
Sounding seized - or a spun bearing, etc. Find whatever socket fits the crank bolt, get a breaker bar in there and turn the engine by hand with the bar and socket. Turn only in the direction the engine normally rotates. Does it turn easily all the way thru 2 cycles? Hard spots? Relatively...- DadOSix

Much better now! I admit to being a bit stumped at this point. Q: on the coil packs you used - what brand? You will find on these jeeps, that they are very picky about sensors and the like. For coils, OEM or Standard Motor Products are preferred. Any chance you still have the old coil...- DadOSix

Could also be the water pump impeller. Slow at idle, litte / no flow Faster RPM, the pump goes faster and may move coolant - also, convection thru the radiator helps cool. Not sure what a 'block test' is - There is a kit you can get with a colored fluid that is held to the coolant filler...- DadOSix

2003 Jeep Liberty gas tank issue.....
Suspect the fuel line connection - since your fuel pump is in the tank, there is pressure on the line right from key on. drop the tank and see what is going. There was a way to open an access hatch - (home made) and access from the top, but it is not factory and you risk sparks near gasoline.- DadOSix

What did you do to your jeep today?
Sometimes the switch gets gunked up with sludge from extended interval (no) oil changes. It is easy to get out with the filter out of the way. I have pulled mine before and sprayed carb / brake clean in the port on the switch and a bit in the threaded hole. Cleared my flicker right up on one...- DadOSix

Timing Chain Tensioners etc ..
I prefer to use known items when you (he) has to go this far into the engine. For just tensioners, I would follow his recommendations. Remember, he is the one who will stand behind this work. Personally, I have used Cloyes (specialize in engine timing sets) or Melling for other engine...- DadOSix

2002 Jeep Cherokee sport 2.4 petrol-Broken Cam-belt, how do I realign the Camshafts?
Graham - You do know that the engine must be ‘in time’ already before you do a compression check, right? I don’t know if 2.4 is an ‘interference’ or ‘non-interference’ engine. Non - there is no chance for the valves to strike the pistons, and cams rotate freely with no issues... -

Graham - Are you seeing any signal at the fuel injectors? I’m not familiar with the 2.4, just thinking along. Anywhere you see a 5 volt signal, it is (IMO) a reference signal for the PCM/ECM to monitor the action and report back to the computer. How many pins on the coil pack for this beast?- DadOSix
