The other idea I have is worn spring isolators... still on the OEM ones at 215k! Wondering if they're worn to the point they're letting the coil move around too much. I know at full flex I can go to the flexed out wheel and move the coil a bit. Haven't lost one yet tho!
Noticed over the past few months I've had a pop/knock from the rear at full flex. Bit of background, this spring I replaced the trilink with a junkyard mopar one - went bad in a week. Was tired of messing with it, so let my trusted shop put in a "nice" (one with the blue boot on the ball joint)...
Yep, that's the same one. Oreillys has it too. I just got it locally since I figured if it breaks it'll be easier to swap out. I think most people have issues getting the bushings out, the arm just bends.
FWIW, I'm running a Napa Supreme one (think it's made by spicer), one with the blue boot, been there a few months and on a few off road trips, it's been good.
All I do is mine is fill it through the bleed hole, tighten that back up, fill tank to proper level and then let it idle with the cap off and wait a few minutes for it to "burp" and the coolant level in the reservoir drops, then refill and done.
Might be getting an ARB bumper.... would anyone be interested in the Detours backbone? Winch mount that allows you to run a winch with the stock bumper. Discontinued now I think. Thinking maybe $300 or better offer?
Found a used ARB bumper that I might get if I can get a good deal. Right now I have the Backbone on the KJ for my winch. I don't remember doing any heavy modifications to mount that, but is there anything I would've done to the KJ then that would make the ARB harder to mount?
And, while I have...
Lots of info on here for the lifts.... do an OME lift. I'd recommend JBA upper control arms too so you can replace upper ball joints instead of the whole arm. OEM lower control arms are like $700 each. I'd buy the nicest bushings you can find and put those into your current control arms. FWIW...
No rear sway bar bushings on the KJ. Mine had some creaking from the rear and it was just sand/mud caught in the LCA bushings. cleaned it up and it's quiet.
OP, what happens when you go like 5MPH and slam on the brakes? if it pops then, the lower control arm bushings are probably shot.
