03 3.7L Jeep liberty oil issue. need help troubleshooting

And if you want to see just how well vacuum can ventilate, simply (if you could) open an airplane window while at cruising altitude! :happy175:

03 3.7L Jeep liberty oil issue. need help troubleshooting

Not a good idea. The operation of the PCV valve (drawing crankcase fumes out through vacuum) actually creates flow-through ventilation in a way you don't get with just breathers. Plus it's better on gaskets and seals to suck crankcase pressures out, instead of them getting blown out on their...

    Tensioner - 90mm versus 76mm pulley?

This is curious. For an 02, carpart.com shows: 87.6" belt. autopartswarehouse: 86.5". Autozone: 87.5". Rockauto and O'Reilly Auto: both sized belts and pulleys. The simple answer... since there is a choice, put back the same size pulley and belt you took off.

    Flat towing a Liberty

She mentions both. Maybe she's talking about wanting to flat tow the Jeep behind an RV, with a trailer hitched to the Jeep. lol

Me and My '05 Limited, Riding On Air

No, no you won't. Tires don't alter the geometry of the suspension in any way.

Me and My '05 Limited, Riding On Air

Lookin good so far Jim. Out of curiosity, what Cali temperature is considered "freezin'-ass cold"? It's at or below zero here, with freezing-freezing deeper than ass high winds. I have a feeling yours may feel like short sleeve weather by comparison.

    Jacks

I've never used my factory Jeep bottle jack, never had a flat...knock wood. For home use, I have a H.F. aluminum racing jack, put it under the front lower control arm or rear axle housing. My 32" tires only raises the lower suspension points 1.5" higher off the ground from stock, so you guys...

Go to Autozone, they'll read your codes for free. Even though your check engine light isn't on now, the fact that it flashed means the system might be storing a pending code.

newbie question about isos and spring rings

The 1.5" lift claim is pretty much on the money.....for the early 2002 pre-drop models. So they're not 100% lying.

    Roof rack low profile

How close of a fit is it, not? Over the years, a garage door tends to hang lower than when new, due to the springs getting weaker. Is there room for the door to go up more? A spring adjustment (if you have coil springs on the header), or replacing stretched out pull springs would give the door a...

    Did I get taken?

Are you asking if you got taken by the mechanic, or by the person you bought the Jeep from? If the mechanic used quality parts, and they were indeed in need of replacing, then the charge seems fairly fair. We can't speak for the integrity of the mechanic though. Always asking to see your old bad...

    Here's The Outcome......

I would follow what the Liberty FSM says, as that's vehicle specific. That same dipstick is likely to be used for more than just the Liberty. Although, I don't see a difference. Neutral is a no gear, as is park.

    Factory Jack

In all the vehicles I've ever had, I always carry a breaker bar/lug nut socket. Never used the wimpy factory wrenches.

    Manual trans question

That's what I did too, bought a HF trans jack. It'll probably sit for years collecting dust though. I dropped the whole transmission/case as one, just be sure to chain it down well to the jack. Being lifted, I didn't need to raise the Jeep at all to work on the clutch, just rolled the trans back...

    causes of wandering ?

You'll want to get this replaced before assuming it's anything else. When mine was bad, the rearend was squishy and would sway badly if you cut the steering wheel right-left even slightly. It handled like a boat.

    Muffler question

If you've been married for any prolonged period of time, you might find that your tube of KY Jelly may see a lot more action out in the garage instead, lol. I have one in the garage...just sayin. The stuff is non-petroleum based, so it won't eat away at rubber(s).
