Hi, Bigger tyres will lose you a little acceleration etc. There is a limit on stock KJs as to how big you can go without some modification. I stick to stock size but many here go a size bigger or so. I would go Pirelli Scorpion AT or Cooper ATs for my use - your choice may vary depending on...- nzoliver

What did you sell or trade to get your KJ?
I sold my '98 Discovery diesel. At least I got 25mpg out of it and I do miss the full time 4x4 thing a bit. But that's all.:D- nzoliver

:eek:Hi all, Well, my observations are that Africa was conquered with 'puny' 2 litre and 2.3 litre Land Rovers with standard wheels + tyres. A combination of low range, patience and good driving did it. There is no reason why a modern 4 pot of 2.4 litres with more hp and a lighter vehicle...- nzoliver

engine light came ...on P0122 code
Hi, Sounds like the Throttle Position Sensor. A simple and cheap fix you could do yourself in your garage in 15 minutes. Save yourself a 'load a cash' and DIY. Mine was a cinch.:) :cool:- nzoliver

I think the Smart car would be just the same but you would open the door and walk away from that too. They are SOLID and you are more likely to be hurt in a Toyota. DON'T bag the Smart...they are engineerd by Mercedes Benz who know a thing or 2 about safety;) And, Smarts are used on the Autobahn...- nzoliver

Seat Belt Alarm?
Hi all! How about that bloody annoying ping ping when the keys are in the ignition and the drivers door is open......how the hell do ya shut that off???? WAY more annoying than any seatbelt noise - which mine doesn't have by the way..must be off.:rolleyes:- nzoliver

Yep. That's what I did. Oh, and RTV is the enemy here in the auto trans industry. Too much bad installation causing too many blockages/damage. Warranty companies are getting a bit shitty about it too....gaskets please.....- nzoliver

Nope. No hate here. Ya should see what the Italian Mftrs spec for oil usage......:eek: Alfa used to be 1litre for 5000km - not so now but still high. But, the engines are fabulous and generate plenty big HP from small capacities. Jap engines are boring compared..... Now wait for the...- nzoliver

Problems starting cold
Hi folks, Have y'all considered the diesel may be 'gelling' a bit? Happens here in the winter with farmer's tractors and trucks and pickups when it gets to -8c or colder. :rolleyes: This puts extra strain on lift pumps and seals etc. A block heater will have no effect if the fuel is thick and...- nzoliver

From the pix, My guess is a new front crossmember and while the front is off get a chassis alignment to check if it's straight. A quick tweak if it ain't. There will be loads of second hand bits around for sure to do the plastic bits. You might need a replacement RF guard. NZ$3000 at the...- nzoliver

Hi Here in NZ that would be fixed inside a week and done easily. The insurance company would hardly even look at it. Fix it they would say.:) The front would have to be non existant to be written off here on a vehicle of that age and value!! Good to read nobody was hurt though.- nzoliver
