Just thought I would share my 6,000k HID headlights. Many people say that HIDs blind oncoming traffic but I have had no issues. I have them aimed down low enough to where I have plenty of light on the road but I am not blinding anyone. I noticed while aiming them, that you would have to be almost laying down on the ground to be blinded by the HIDs. No car is going to ever be that low. They give me a clear view at night without the scatter or glare that people claim to have on here. They look great with my LED fogs and light bar. You can refer to my pics- the before, after, as well as the light distribution from inside the cab. (Obviously, pics don't nearly do them justice).

*I would recommend installing HIDs if you're wanting considerably more light output. That being said, I would never recommend getting anything higher than 6,000k, or at the most 8,000k. Any higher and you're just asking for trouble from cops and the blue hue makes it harder to see. I would appreciate it if people that are against HIDs, to not comment about poor or uneven light output, because my HIDs are 10x brighter and more full than any Sylvania, Philips, PIAA, etc. If you're interested in where I got mine, just ask ! The company I bought the kit from sells high quality products for a very affordable price. Thanks !

I bought my kit from opt7 on eBay. I got the 10k kit with the anti flicker capacitors. Maybe it's just me but the light spread looks like a very bright white and not a deep blue. However they are hella bright

I mean, as long as you like it then it's fine. I just chose to go with 6,000k because it has a very small amount of blue and that's what I wanted. But you're correct, those look very bright. Different manufacturers use different materials and such when making their HIDs so sometimes the light comes out a little different between the kits. Thanks for sharing !

Be it jealousy or just from what they hear, it incorrect information. Obviously you should aim them down a little lower than normal because they are and will be brighter than halogen, but to say "you can't use HIDs in a halogen housing or it puts out terrible light" is just a lie.

At first it was a little challenging, because the hardest part is finding your mounting points for the ballasts. I should've taken pictures of where I put mine, but I'll try to describe it to you as best as possible. I have a 2005 Sport, so keep that in mind as I don't know if it will be different for other models. Anyhow, I did the passenger side first (easiest) before I did the drivers side because I wasn't sure where to put it yet. If you take off the grill and remove the passenger side headlight, you'll see a big gap in the housing for the headlight on the right side, like it was meant for a ballast. That is where I bolted that one to. For the drivers side, I'll post a picture once I get home because you can see that one. I'm sure there are other spots, maybe better, but I wasn't trying to go tearing off a whole bunch of stuff just to mount them. Hopefully that gives you some visual (if you are familiar with the front end of the KJ)

Pull the grill and headlights to make it easier. I only did this because I bought two new headlights when I got my HIDS and found it very easy to do. I just zip tied by ballasts on the wiring harness running across the fender on both sides in the engine bay

Of course they don't spread when you aim them that low. You don't get enough distance in front of you for them to spread!

Hey whatever floats your boat. If you like a lot of light close to your Jeep then so be it! For the Scion I'll be getting HIDs. I am also putting projectors in them so I can have a nice clean light cutoff.

It is still illegal. I have also seen HID's melt stock halogen housings. I guess I am the kind of person that likes to do things the right way.

I agree that the output is pretty decent for the stock reflector, but I prefer the sharp cutoff of projectors.

Not against HID's.. whatever you like man, go for it.

HID's in halogen housings and reflectors is still not ideal, and depending on the reflector can be horrible. So, not a lie. Just "it depends". The KJ seems to do pretty good, as far as stock Halogen reflectors go.

Projectors are the way to go here, even with halogen bulbs they are superior in my view.

Glad you like your install. Do you have vehicle inspections in your State? Hopefully not or hopefully the inspector doesn't give a rats @ss.
