Suspension pop while turning or hitting a bump

Theres a video on YouTube of a girl popping them out like its nothing with a crowbar and reinstalling them in under 10 minutes

I've seen a few videos like that myself, though the girl didn't usually use a crowbar... :893karatesmiley-thu

Jason, I'm going to email you a series of photos and I want you to tell me if it seems like anything is wrong. Tom, if I can email you as well that'd be nice. I'm seeing something and I'm thinking they really messed my KJ up.

And might I add that they also kept trying to blame it on the alignment guy. I'm still on stock shocks and springs.

Just sent them! I found the problem. The spring isn't even sitting on the upper spring perch (or whatever the technical name of it is) correctly. End of the coil isn't in the divot.

Called it! Like I said, you need to hold the spring in alignment with that divot/notch in the upper spring seat; otherwise when you undo the spring compressor after tightening the top mount nut, it spins on ya.

Happened to me twice putting mine together. And my spring was kinked like that too.

Looks like someone was trying to weld on it or ??
And yes they did not seat the spring in there correctly, couldn't they see that
Don't see how the shock is not bent by now, ya know

The shop told me they welded the stud heads to the new top hat so they wouldn't work their way loose.

Completely unrelated to the suspension thread but, I'm thinking of buying 16x8 0 offset pro comp Stryker wheels. Are they decent? Or should I just stick to the 16x8 soft 8's I was originally going to buy

16X7 with 4 inches of backspacing, when lifted is better
8 inch wide with 5 inches of backspacing
what you are looking at will give a bunch of issues especially with your lift
plus needing a wider tires which will rub everywhere in front
But get your lift straightened out first

Got them. What the sweet hell is that crap!!!!!???

As I understand it, some of these spacer lifts require you to press out the OE top mount studs and press them into the lift kits' top mount plate, is that what they did here? And then so they didn't back out, they welded them?

First of all... that's beyond stupid. If you have properly torqued nuts on the other side, in the engine bay- where you access them- then it's impossible for them to work loose. They're torqued and sandwiched in there.

Freaking idiots working on your KJ bud.

Also, hold off on thinking about wheels until you can get this suspension thing sorted out.. I know wheels are fun and cool, but as it is with the extra stresses on your coil spring and other components, your Jeep is rather unsafe to drive as it is.

Same.. you just can't trust that anything in there is not damaged or out of spec now.

That's what they call "shit-canning" the entire thing and starting over.

Oh yeah first things first the lift is being straightened out first. Was just wondering for future reference

Zero offset.... kinda thinking that is going to push it out way too far.. under suspension flex that would cause the tire/wheel combo to come up right into the fender flare.

Wouldn't it, Tom?

Thank you! Light bar is going away soon. I'm going to mount 2 KC or PIAA lights there instead. Lightbar was a dumb mistake. Has cause more issues than expected. Actually failed and caused a fire in the cab. Had to replace the kick panel on the drivers side. Have factory fogs coming in too. Since mine had the lenses melted off of them (don't ask lol)
