I spent the weekend with my wife and kids installing rockfather deluxe lift kit along with upper control arms and arb front bumper. Must have messed up the wiring for the turn signals so I'll be troubleshooting that. Now hopefully for memorial day I can get a good deal to upgrade to some bigger tires .
Looks great! what's the height on the Rockfahter? Not familiar with it.

Of course dealing with Rock disaster its hard to tell what they sent you

Steel stock for bumpers and roof rack just delivered. Additional welding rods and a rod oven get delivered later today too. Sadly wont get much welding done this week, as I'm headed to the Saline River a week from today and still have many preparations for the trip. Its the end of the term here so thankfully only have to put up with students a few more days.

Aligned today. The toe had gotten pretty out of whack in the last year, somehow.

The alignment measurements are for a ~3.5” lift, with JBA upper control arms, in case anyone wants to see what it should be. The caster gets sacrificed a little bit to get the camber and toe in spec (which are more important). Just FYI, the JBA upper control arms allow for a good alignment on lifted vehicles. The max lift you can still get in spec without them is maybe 2-2.5”.

Don't you just hate it when you get halfway through a project and realize you forgot the before pictures!? So these look terrible but I cropped them out of see bigger pictures I had. Suffice it to say my headlights were just shy of useless. I used the 3M kit you use with a drill. Has sand paper, rubbing compound and such. So I think it did a pretty good job. There's still some micro scratches if you look real close but good enough to see at night and I think it looks plenty good in the daylight. Mine is certainly not a show piece anyway.

Sorry, grasshopper comes out every now and again, loved watching Kung Fu with Keith Carradine back in early 70s / late 60s I think it was

plus we'll go on , does anyone on here know where giving a piece of raisin pie to some one who did good deed, or article come from ? It was used extensively in the 70s in a magazine
( Hint it was a type of " motorcycle " magazine )

They are looking at doing an SFA, (done right) , V8, etc
more than likely a several thousand dollar build, and he has the $$$$$$ to do it
Something I wanted to do with it, but being retired (somewhat) , no longer interested in such a project
Made me a VERY VERY lucrative offer , banded stack of 100s is hard to turn down
so after 18 years of ownership, and over 230,000 miles of fun,.......................:confused::confused::rolleyes:

Looks nice, and i'm sure a good improvement at night!

For some the oxidation comes back in a year or so depending the uv exposure, and they dismiss the idea that restoring headlights can work well long term. If yours ends up coming back quicker than you'd like, try buying some 3m wet or dry papers in grits that are higher than what came with the kit to finish them.

Real rough headlights I would go 300>600>1200>2000 then a nice polish. When I worked in collision repair, we would skip the polish after the 2000 and finish with a 2k clear coat.

All of this maybe overkill for some, but I just wanted to share in case others reading were disappointed in their results, without ever trying to go higher up in sandpaper grit. I myself was one of the sceptics in the past, and what a difference going up in the grits makes for the longevity.

If you are ever tempted to get remanufactured/refurbished TPMS sensors from Ebay to save 50%, resist the temptation. :mad:

The kit was 500, 800,1500 then a 3000 pad then a polishing wheel with some 3M compound. After that I added a Turtle Wax compound that I presumed to be a little lighter, followed by Meguiar's Speed Compound, Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish Wax and finished with a clean microfiber application of the Hybrid Ceramic Spray Coating. Probably overkill but I was bored and I had it all on hand so why not? I like the idea of the 2K clear though. If it doesn't hold up I'll do that next time. I like that stuff!

Did you know Kung Fu was written for Bruce Lee? Apparently he was "too Chinese" for Hollywood at the time. And would that be Easyriders Magazine?
