There's some pretty awesome off roaders on here and I know mpg's aren't the driving factor for most with these but what got me here was the desire to find what I could get for cash to drive to work at anything better than the 12 mpg's I was getting with my truck. I am happy to report that what I did today was calculate my mpg on my last fill up and it is.......25.8!!!
How? I get 19 on a good day on 91 octane!

4cyl. 5 speed. No interstate. Keeping rpm low and 40psi in the tires. No aftermarket accessories. Highway tread tires. No lift and I'm at sea level on the NC coast. I would love to have a 4x4 with a V6 and set it up for overland but right now in 2022 I'm happy with it like it is! I'm loving this thing!

Wow 40 lb in the tires ?
Keeping RPMs low on V6s causes them to lug
My 04 for example , aftermarket front and rear bumpers, heavy aftermarket skids, rock rails roof rack , tools , parts etc
I averaged 23 going across PA from OHIO to Philly running 75-80 and 34 lbs of air in the 265-75-16s Duratracs going over to JeepinByAl to work
Oh 4.10 gearing
never was one for the hypermiling

38 cold but 40 when I checked them so right in there. Door says 33 so I ran them up 5. Mine is 4 cylinder with nothing heavy or aftermarket and everything is bone stock. I had lots of goodies on my 4x4 Frontier then got my Titan XD and added a ton of fun stuff. Got 12mpg in it and didn't care. Then 2022 happened. I miss driving my Titan so if my reasoning was to save on gas then imma by god save every penny I can or put my Titan back on the road. Maybe in a couple years things will settle out. If so I think I'll sell my Liberty and look for a 4x4 one or something similar and do a full overland build.

Tried to get my winch in the ARB bumper and ran into some issues. At least i got the mounting bracket for the bumper on.
