Installed this yesterday afternoon - my stock RBK factory receiver bit the dust. This one's a JVC from Crutchfield - simple install that included a Sirius XM satellite receiver. No CD player as I always listen to music either from satellite, Pandora, or my Amazon collection from the cloud through my phone. Also has hands-free phone via a mic that I placed along the A-pillar. Works great. I will have a Grom adapter for connecting an Aux input to the Chrysler radio and my previous satellite receiver in the For Sale section shortly :waytogo:

^^ Nice job....doesn't Crutchfield make it easy, though? Loving my Kenwood KDC-X399...the color choice of Green1 matches the KJ IP lighting perfectly....

Your're exactly right - Crutchfield's wire harnesses and dash adapters make it a piece of cake. Took far longer to solder the Chrysler harness to the JVC harness than it did to install the in-dash receiver and Sirius receiver. Even installed two JVC speakers for the front (passenger side was blown.) Same as the receiver - took longer to solder the connections to the factory wiring than installing them in the door and putting the panel back on :party52:

I do wish my JVC had selectable colors for the buttons, etc. The blue is too bright and doesn't fit the KJ. Now if I put in blueish LED's in the dash.... :popcorn:

EDIT: My previous SiriusXM receiver and Grom Audio adapter are in the For Sale forum...

Put air in all 5 tires, washed windows and vacuumed the interior.

Then pulled the boat up in the yard so we could clean it out, charge the battery...all the dewinterizing stuff.

Unlocked it to get some tools out. Worked on the GC. Put the tools back in the libby and locked it back up.

So you essentially have a $15,000 tool chest then, huh? :icon_lol:

As for me, I pressure washed the engine compartment after hitting the non-sensitive areas (as in, NOT the electrical and rubber parts) with Gunk foaming engine degreaser. Then I did another good exterior wash, followed by an application of the spray on protectant sealer I used last time. Rinsed it good with the pressure washer and rubbed it down to a nice shine. I wish I had taken a picture because it looked fantastic, even if I do say so myself.

Had a brief moment of "uh-oh" when I noticed a light mist of steam rising from the radiator while idling the engine to dry it off after the pressure washing. I had cleaned it very well with the pressure washer (no Gunk degreaser was applied there, for obvious reasons) and figured it was just water flashing to steam between the fins. Then I noticed the fan not running and saw that the temperature had risen to 212. I got in and drove it around, keeping one eye on the road and the other on the temperature readout. I also turned the A/C on as I've read that that is supposed to automatically kick the fan on. Whatever it was, as soon as I started moving the temp fell, actually down to about 190 and then slowly rising to the standard 196 to 198 degrees I'm used to seeing. Obviously I could not simultaneously drive around and watch the fan to see if it was on, but I'm figuring it must have been.

Anyone have any comment on the above? :)

The e-rad fan only comes on at certain conditions.

OPERATION
The electric radiator cooling fan is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through the radiator cooling fan relay. The PCM regulates fan operation based on input from the engine coolant temperature sensor, battery temperature sensor,air
conditioning select switch and vehicle speed. The fan is not energized during engine cranking regardless of the electrical input from the temperature sensors and ,air conditioning switch. However, if engine operation conditions warrant fan engagement, the fan will run once engine starts.

Vehicles Equipped with AC:
In addition to using coolant temperature and battery temperature sensor to control cooling fan operation, the cooling fan will also be engaged when the ,air conditioning system is activated. The relay is also energized when, air conditioning is selected and coolant temperature is above 95° C ( 203° F), or , air conditioning is selected and battery temperature sensor is above 41° C (106°F). It will then de-energize when , air conditioning is selected and coolant temperature is below 92° C (198° F), or , air conditioning is selected and battery temperature is below 38° C (100° F).

I was under the (mistaken) impression that it pretty much came on as soon as the engine reached operating temperature. I was afraid I might have shorted something out with the pressure washer. As for the pressure wash itself, I was very careful to not overdo it. I mostly wanted to get the lower areas where coolant had dripped when my water pump was leaking a couple months ago. I also take the long view on cleaning projects like this in that I'd rather clean it multiple times and finally get it spotless than spend all day under the hood trying to remove years of gunk all at once. My engine bay started out pretty clean but looks noticeably better now. I'm probably going to go at it a few more times once I figure out a way to control the spray of the degreaser so I can better target the parts that really need it. I'm going to see if there are other products than the one I used which might work better. Tom mentioned some stuff a while back and I need to get over to the place and check it out. :)

It should kick in as well at operating temperature without the AC.
I updated my post. I didn't include some earlier parts from the FSM.

I have hacked the wiring for the cooling fans in the PDC so that I can control the fan speed. And I do not have any CEL's due to this mod.

Tried for the umpteenth time to find an annoying rattle that only appears when running over small bumps especially rumble strips...it SOUNDS like UCAs are loose but the bolts are torqued to correct values...I've tightened to torque specs/loosened/retightened everything I took loose to install the Ironman Lift at least twice now and of course the alignment shop cycled it another couple of times...big bumps are no problem just the small stuff...weird...

Look at the heat shields on your y pipe cats

^ Mine are rattling I need to adjust them but also one thing I have learned with a KJ, you find one rattle there are always two or three more with it, drives you crazy and worse the rattles tend to echo so its hard to find the source.

Finally cleaned Moab and the SW Utah desert out of my interior. Spent the entire afternoon scrubbing everywhere, including removing pieces of plastic and vents to get to everything! Ugh...my arms are tired of wiping everything down!

Got the other side parking brake working. Vacuumed out the carpets, really need to get some cleaner and do it right. Put 100mph tape over the damaged front bumper corner.

Re-bent the heatshielding over the pipe to the Muffler, see how that goes it was bent out of shape probably from winter. So that should eliminate the rattling noise from under the Jeep.
