Cursed them intensely when first introduced. After buying a couple special tools, one with long cable extension, the other more plier like, I've decided I really appreciate them. They hold exactly the proper pressure required to keep hoses from leaking without cutting in and ruining hoses as I've seen many people do with worm gear clamps from over tightening.

Bob

Special tools are against my religion but time goes by and beliefs change. I'll look into the gadgets. I was going to replace them with the worm screw type but I'd hate to cut into my $130.00 CRD lower hose. $130.00 Radiator hoses are against all of my religions and beliefs. Thanks for the tip.

pulled it out to test fit the new bike rack. had to add a hitch extension to it, because tailgate mounted tire. works good though. got all 4 bikes on it in a fashion I like. first real test run will be sunday I think. I'll get pictures later, but for now the rack is FOURTIMER | Yakima

Looks good. Is it sturdy with the extra extension? I especially like the bottle opener

since I drilled a new set of holes in the extension to "shorten" it, yes it's very stable now. the welds on the extension (where it steps up to become a receiver) now press right into the hitch itself, so it doesn't wobble. it's a bit of a fit to get it all in there, but it works. also the rack itself uses an internal clamping system with a threaded bolt, that pulls the rack to to one side of the receiver, so it already doesn't wobble at that joint.

Thinking the ticking noise when the engine is cold on start up is the exhaust manifold. So wondering if there is a way somehow to try and tighten the bolts.

Exhaust leak upon first starting that goes away, or at least gets quieter when warm is 98% likely to be cracked exh manifold. Metal expands and closes crack when hot. Loose bolts is a nice thought, but not likely.

Since exhaust bolts are known to stretch I'll try that option first before spending stupid amounts of money that I do not have.

I had to do the same thing for mine. Extension with the rack. It works great and fits 4 bikes!

I spruced up my interior a bit. Started painting the fake "aluminum" panels with a candy red.

Also used the Meguiar's headlight restoration kit to clean up the shift indicator. The yellow in this picture is a goofy reflection of the sun, the paint is an even dark red.

Changed the oil, replaced the rear wiper blade, hit the front undercarriage with rust reformer.

Loctite Extend is the same...milky white/grey and turns to black.

I did a little surfing and looks like quite a few out there with the same characteristics. I even see my old friend Naval Jelly is still available. That was the standard way back when.

Do you all actually paint it or leave it in the primer state?

Took it back to the shop, rotors needed cutting and wheels re-balanced with the good balance machine. Going to test it on the interstate tomorrow.

Once it cures, I will put POR-15 Chassis Coat black on top.
