I don't like when mine's not on. Feels weird.
Now if somoene could come up with a storage box the size and shape of the spare that bolts in place, I'd be all over that.

spare tire delete....not sure if i like it ?

I did this with mine and moved my spare to the roof rack that I have. It took me a little while to get used to it, but I really like the look. One thing though is you might want to put bolts in those holes if you haven't already. I can't tell from the picture. But those holes are open to the inside of the tailgate.

Trying to make it happen, if I was still up in NW Ohio would be easier , have more room to work on changes etc .
Plus, wanting them to look just right, unhappy with the one I have on currently in a couple of areas.
But its going to happen (just not soon enough for me)
One of those two forward three back deals, but putting on shoes with spikes in them in hopes of gaining some traction.

Been looking at various Surplus items from the military to see which box would fit the best.
Now here is an idea, an arm out from each side of the tire to mount a a 30 or 50 caliper ammo can or ??
Wouldn't be too heavy as to put too much weight on the rear gate unless you loaded them with lead or gold nuggets
I have a plan drawn up for them, still thinking if they would be something of value ( of course that with the tire on, off way easier )

hoping once this shed project is done, I can get with some PVC piping and mock up how I want my roof rack to be.

also need to pick a day next week (hopefully) and go out to JBA and get all the skid plates. shipping isn't too horrid, considering the size and mass, but I want to play with that front one and see if it can be modified to work with my plow bracket already installed.

tomorrow, it's hauling a little lumber. 10 2x4's. thinking I can just stick 'em out the back glass opening instead of going through the whole hassle of getting out the trailer.

Put a towel over the center console and put them there. Idk how much room you'd need row your DIY transmission though. :D

Got in the 05 after work tonight and saw the odometer at 45,000 even. Tried to take a pic but tough to get a good one in the dark with or without flash.
