Seriously though, I think I was lucky in a way since the 3.5L (2GR-FE) had issues the first few years they were out but apparently from 08 on the oiling issues were resolved. I heard something about a bad PCV system causing issues too. Still have the factory suspension on it (floats like a boat). :Insane:

It can be effectively treated at just about any stage as long as your doctor is on board. Not easy but can be done. Long runs of antibiotics and alot of patience.
First bullseye was '97-'98 (he doesn't remember which). Doc wouldn't give him antibiotics because he popped a negative on the useless test, despite a clear and classic bullseye.
Then he got another bullseye in '09 or '10, she gave him antibiotics without question (after calling all his symptoms in between 'just arthritis') and he started getting better. Got another in '12, got a serious dose - three times/day for three weeks, and got even better. Another in '14, back to a regular dose, better again. But it's not gone.
Good news is I'm starting the antibiotics while I have the bullseyes. It's all good.
And hopefully I can work on the front of the Liberty when I'm allowed back in the sun, 'cause I have a lot to do.

Once chronic you may need months of antibiotics and a doctor who gets it. Back in the day the tests were useless and unfortunately they haven't gotten much better but with the clear recollection of the rash he should be getting referred to a specialist. Now we have a proliferation of "Lyme-like" diseases too so more complicated for definitive testing. Common to blame it all on RA but there are decent tests for that too.

Easy job turned difficult due to lack of maintenance from previous owner. Take care of your rig people, or don't b**** to the mechanic when you get a high repair bill when you neglected the basics!!!!

Yesterday I went out and bought a roof top tent - got it for more than 50% off on crackslist. Ended up buying it from a guy from my home town back in MN who was in my youngest brother's class and related to my step father. He's now out here in CO. Small World.

Made a trip to the junkyard in Denver. Got all the shiny interior trim pieces and door handles from a Limited, an outside mirror (mine has a nasty rusty scratch on the mirror glass), and an EVIC. I got another EVIC a couple months back, but I didn't do enough research ahead of time then and neglected to pull the wires/connectors as well, so I couldn't install it. :emotions34:
I wanted to also get some darker interior trim panels (not a big fan of the light grey in my Sport), but no luck. Same with fog lights, none of the 9 or 10 KJ's there had any. I did try to pull some of the rear UCA brackets to sell on eBay for a big profit, but even with my impact those bolts on the differential just wouldn't budge.
Also spent some time taking apart the dash and instrument cluster on a KJ there. I want to replace the instrument cluster lights on mine soon, and figured I'd better try it on a junkyard vehicle first before I screw something up on mine

Those IC lights are super easy to change,just twist in mini-bulbs.

Yeah it turned out to be super easy indeed. I was mostly concerned about removing all the panels to be able to get access to the instrument cluster. On my last vehicle (Ford Explorer) I always had issues with clips breaking whenever I tried to remove panels.

Dropped off the 4.10 front and rear end to have a Detroit Tru Trac put in the back and a Eaton electronic locker in the front. Next is to pick up the rebuilt transmission and new torque converter along with my rebuilt transfer case.

Drove my Jeep until the check engine light turned off. What a relief...
Also, I need to find a schematic for the passenger window. A lot of noise and a "cable" came up with the window. Won't roll down anymore...
