What did you do to your jeep today?

(Yesterday)

Drove to the hardware store and bought 10 cinder blocks and a bunch of lumber. Glad I have that upgraded suspension! Came home and built a firewood rack.

And for all those who mocked my big roof rack: It comes in handy when you're hauling 10' long 2x4's. :893Chainsaw-Smilie-

I got my mudflaps in the mail from turblediesel. Now I just have to wait for the snow ❄ to melt and I can install them! Thanks again!:happy160:

I think the mud flaps really help stop the rocker rot. My 03 doesn't have them and it's getting bad but the 02 had them and they seem solid still

Living in Colorado (High Plains Desert) helps a lot too. I have seen lots of rocker rot in the salvage yards but they all had out of state plates. Since this Jeep will only see very mild wheeling, the flaps wont get in the way. My XJ just tears them off - or I should say the rocks I go over tear them off!

My XJ has rear ones, no rust back there yet and it's been a northern IL Jeep for all its life. Rocker panels are solid too. Just had to get new floor pans put in though!

My XJ has less rust than the KJ does! My issue with the XJ is that I want the front ones so that mud and slush don't build up around my rock rails - but if I leave them on when I go wheeling, any time I come down a rock they just tear right off. I have repaired them with epoxy and washers a couple times because I like having the front ones to block the muck... but I am old and always forget to remove them in the spring, but I remember when I hear that snap sound when I'm on a trail :emotions122:

Just now I loaded a 20 gal air compressor in the KJ...wouldn't fit in the KL. :/

Re mudflaps...ya they help but you got to power wash Jeep in winter good, to prevent rust.
My jeep is platinum shield undercoated from beginning, and that is a big plus.

I wish I could say I put a bunch of dirt trail miles on my KJ, but nooooooo. I had to make 2 trips to Reno and back. One was a scheduled VA doctor visit, which I included shopping for a cook range for one of the tenants. I didn't realize it was going to be so difficult to find one in stock - nobody carries stock anymore. Everybody offers free shipping, but their 3-5 day delivery time is really more than a week when you live where I do.

So, my second trip to Reno (this morning) involved me renting a U-Haul trailer to pick up a floor model range I got for less than 200 bucks (original price was 599). With the range and my Segway in the trailer, it was a pretty smooth ride, although it was what I needed to move the "add 4.10 gears" near the top of my list. It struggled on hills (I maintained a solid 60mph the whole trip home, but had to use pedal assist during cruise control). The drive from U-Haul to the stove store and from the apartment to the drop-off was unnerving though. My ball hitch receiver makes a LOT of noise rattling when the trailer was empty. I thought the trailer was gonna break loose.

The last 2 days was 350 highway miles, 90 of it with a trailer. Wish I could say it was fun. But my KJ did just fine... but woulda been better with 4.10s.

work great to quiet down draw bars. aids in towing as the trailer won't "wibble" around behind you, or sound like it just fell off and hit an IED. I especially like how it keeps the bike rack from swaying.

Installed all 4 new caliper, brakes and rotors and also installed both new wheel bearings, it also had a belt squeal when the ac and defroster was on so I installed a new belt tensioner, worked like a charm!!
