Anyoen else confirm the JBA rear springs , the red ones , are supposed to be slimmer then the OEM or OME ?

Rear springs are NOT slimmer than stock, same size, not sure where you heard that LOL, fakebooking again ?? :emotions34::icon_razz::happy175:
They have to be same size diameter or would not fit

Well I just finished up the 03 and last part was the rear springs I got from a member here used.
The stock spring and OME (like in my 02) are much wider in diameter.
The base of the spring top and bottom are the same size opening to fit the spring seat. It’s all new to me. I have never used a JBA spring before.

Pulled this crap off. Can't believe the thing even worked at all. The "resin" on the magnet had actually liquefied and was slung around. The bearing was toast but the clutch didn't look so good either so I ordered the replacement kit.

I am clearing my driveway for the jeep to sit in winter storage. I plan on taking the wheels off and also putting the jeep on jack stands to take all the weight off the suspension and then covering the jeep up with several tarps. I am also going to take the plates off as well to save money on the insurance, and just leave storage insurance on it for the winter.

It actually didn't sound that terrible. I only noticed a slight but classic dry bearing noise last Wednesday after I got home from work. It was really noticeable when I shut it off in the garage. There was that brief moment when the belt drive spins after the engine is shut off that was pretty obvious. I also noticed the AC wasn't as cold as usual on the highway but picked back up fine when I got to the small roads. It was near mid 90s though. I didn't drive it until I moved it around yesterday to work on our Subaru. Fortunately I have another vehicle to drive so no hurry on the parts. I pressed the bad bearing out so I could just press in a new one (Autozone has them in stock) and run it with just the pulley if need be.

BTW only about 65k on my KJ. My 02 was running the original at 179k. Don't think mileage has a "bearing" on this... couldn't resist.

Maybe the low mileage actually hurt it? Idk!:gr_grin:

Couldn’t help but notice that’s how my 2 KJs are with mileage as well.. 170/65

The lower mileage one already broke a belt tensioner and other random crap that the 02 hasn’t yet.

The Mopar was a bit much for me right now considering how much I typically use my AC. I went with an ebay special so probably a piece of crap but only about 50 bucks. It was mainly the price but also the fact the quality of the Mopar may be equivalent to the factory one which failed and looked so bad at 65k. I tried to get the one on Amazon that Twobobs used in his How To but it was "unavailable". They had one from that same company for an 02-03 Dakota that would probably work (my compressor was listed in the model numbers) but it was about 112 bucks. I'll also throw a new bearing in the old pulley and toss it and my snap ring pliers in the back in case the new one is a POS. I've driven plenty of vehicles without AC and I survived.

Then if they fit top and bottom , give you 2.5 inches of lift, you are good to go. I thought you meant where the spring sits etc

In the whole body, middle section of the spring they are a little smaller but not much really

Yeah put them side by side and it’s much slimmer. Just had to ask to be sure

finally bought a cart/cabinet for the new tig welder, washed the jeep and cleaned the disgusting door jambs/hinges. decided my next project will either be a ford ranger or building a camping/overlanding trailer starting with an M1101 for the base. next on the tool list will be a good tubing bender.

My 9" is leaking from the passenger axle seal around the shaft. I believe they are the original axles from a 79 Bronco so it looks like they just have enough wear around the shaft to prevent the seal from sealing. It's not a bad leak but it will keep dripping gear oil and it gets on the rotor.

Amazon is exchanging it for me at no cost which is great since it's $35 for another Timken bearing/seal kit. I also ordered a replacement axle through Amazon from USA Gear. Was originally $90 but Amazon had a $20 instant off coupon for it.

I also ordered new motor mounts and I replaced the trans mount yesterday.

The muffler is going to need to be replaced with a can style muffler as it's too wide currently and will hit the rear drive shaft. The rear drive shaft is getting delivered today so once I'm home from work I'll just remove the muffler and leave it open at the cat until I decide what I'm going to do with the exhaust.

The stock setup comes very close to the front upper control arm mount. The instructions for my lift said the exhaust would need to be modified so it's not unexpected. Then it sits on the trans crossmember but this isn't a huge deal because it doesn't move around there so no noise.

At some point I will be replacing the stock manifold with a header either from Banks or Thorley as the stock one tends to crack or leak when racing.

I still have to do the front gears, hydro bump stop mounts, steering box spacer, and frame reinforcement plates needed to be welded on. It's just been so hot I've had no motivation.

I'm off tomorrow but it's suppose to rain and still be 92 degrees out. This weekend says it'll be in the 70s and cloudy which would be great.

While changing the trans mount I notice oil on the t-case that wasn't there a few days ago. I'm not sure if it's coming from the t-case or the trans pan. I cleaned it all up and will keep an eye on it and find out where. I'm hoping it's the trans pan as I want to change the filter and do a shift kit so I will be opening it up anyway. The t-case isn't difficult to work on it's just a pain to get them to seal up perfectly.

Since both use ATF smelling the oil wasn't an option to determine the leak.

One good thing though is after removing the trans mount I modified the spacer/exhaust hanger mount that was rubbing on the exhaust by cutting 3/16" off the edge of the plate. This cured a noise I was randomly getting that sounded like rod knock/piston slap.

I wanted to make sure I didn’t read the ad wrong and bought the wrong ones. Wouldn’t be the first time my eyes didn’t keep up my brain.
