What did you do to your jeep today?

Caught a break between rain storms to go out looking for pictures. I'm so into my KJ now, I can't help but capture it too when I go out shooting.

I decided to stop here. The harsh winter has caused a lot of flooding and washouts and swollen creeks and rivers. Since I was alone, I didn't want to take a chance on this trail. Prob'ly woulda been okay, but I'm a whus. :whymewhyme:

Not a whus, being smart , always check depth, conditions before you start across any stream, creek, river etc Plus being out alone is never a good idea.

On another note do you do something with the photos you post, none look real, like you used filters or something

Does oil suffer in the winter like the rest of the Jeep? I changed mine about a month ago and it was the worst I remember draining out.

Oil holds up equally well in the cold or heat as long as it's not some dollar store oil. Now filters can take a beating in winter from cold starts and thick oil flowing across the media.

Wednesday, got my leaking transmission lines replaced at the shop, cost vs laziness and mud driveway persuaded me otherwise.

Also got the oil change done and my first 5 tire rotation:gr_grin:

Nothing against Jim and his photography skills, I follow him on Fakebook and has amazing talents with scenery, but on Jeeps etc , just like to see it all natural

Yeah it is a good site to find the trails, but not as active as it once was from the looks of things. Also this time of year you aren't going to find a whole lot of trails that are clear and not snow packed. I have done a bit of wheeling up in the central city area. It is a great place to go see what you can handle before going out on bigger trails. The only problem is that utvs have been ripping the :favorites68: out of the trails up there when they are snow packed and wet so the roads are deteriorating quite rapidly. I have seen a group of mixed jeeps once going over Kingston peak with two KJ's in the group. I tend to just go with a friend or two. Plan on making a couple day run out to Ouray this summer and do a camping jeep trip. Also a lot of the trails don't open until memorial day due to being controlled by the parks service and then even at that some don't become passable until June or July.

think of it more along the lines of the difference between Kodachrome and basic negative film. The color "pop" of Kodachrome was legendary, but could be implemented to "skew" the image's dynamic range. (in reality, Kodachrome had a very narrow dynamic range, which gave it that "look" everyone loved.) HDR is digital's attempt to simulate it, but seems to take it too far. I've never personally dealt with it (I'm not a digital fan) and I've yet to see an HDR image printed, so maybe it would work out better than what we see on our limited-range monitors. Combine that with Jim's love of depth of field and you get what you see.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a DoF ***** as much as the next guy...

Changed the oil in the 05. Pretty dirty looking for 3500 miles.

Ya using synthetics are going to clean it up, so I would try every 2500k for now and see how it looks then.
Mine gets done (combo hwy/ city now every 2500) as I think there is a bit of blow by still and it get dirty faster on the 3.7's. :emotions34:

I will definitely have to take you up on that offer. I am going to try and get out at least twice a month while the weather is good this summer. I am also going to try and get a little ways off from Denver this year due to the ripped up trails that are close by.

Is the one out of Idaho Springs the one that goes through the town of Alice? There is quite a set of trails up there. The Yankee hill set of trails is the set that I am refering to when I say they have gone to :favorites68:
