Bob, is the 5.7L necessary or the 4.7L would do?

I'm Bob too now so I'll chime in :happy175:

Driven many 3.7 XKs and my 3.7 WK in Colorado in the mountains. Felt taxed but would do 75-80 if you're ok with higher RPMs. At lower elevations, it's fine as a DD. The 4.7 would probably be just fine. Probably a little quicker than the KJ, so if you're happy with the KJ's power, the 4.7 would serve you well I think. The Hemi would be great, had a Durango with that and it scooted.

4.7 and Hemi 4x4s always got low range too, 3.7s allegedly some did but I've never seen one in the flesh.

I drove both and there's a big difference between the two as far as just raw torque and power. The kicker for me is there is virtually no difference between the two V8's when it comes to fuel mileage. And in the used car market the Hemi doesn't cost any more than the 4.7 so I just went with the Hemi.

The other thing... the 4.7 is the big brother of the 3.7 in the KJ. In fact it is the "mother engine" the 3.7 was made from. The 3.7 is the same engine with two cylinders lopped off. I figured I've had my go-arounds with the 3.7 so time to try something new ;)

And there's HUGE aftermarket support for the Hemi...

Went to go look at houses in the girls escape. Ended up with a flashing check engine light so I shut it down and waited then restarted. No more light but pulled the code and misfire on 4. Took the jeep instead to look at houses. Ended up doing the spark plugs on the escape(which requires removing the intake manifold... curse those designers at ford!)

Had a great day exploring in the Jeep. Found a new waterfall that I hadn't been to on the Creb track. We enjoyed a couple of shallow water crossings, a rocky trail and a mud Hill. I was really happy with how the Jeep went. I think I need new sway bar links though.

Drove ir up north of Balt to a boat race. Both days blown out by unfortunate wind direction.

Got 20.5 for the weekend despite driving 80 as much as possible ;)

800+ miles. Delivered 3 appliances across state lines, picked up generator and yard tools for return trip, relocated out of state college daughter for the summer. Lots of seat time...
