I used Strattec item # 692958. You need to get the dark gray colored “rock” grip if you have a 2002-2004 Liberty, or the tan colored rock key if you have a 2005-2012.

I only have one.

Plus my one key doesn't fit the door lock. I suppose the only way to remedy that is to open the door. I'm wondering if a local locksmith who does cars and programs keys would be able to cut one from a scratch pattern put into the lock.

I see Strattec has the pin kit. If I was still in Los Angeles my neighbor could do that for me. But that still means opening the door.

I changed my engine air filter the other day and it had oil stains on it from where a vent hose from the crankcase attaches to the filter box. It wasn’t a ton of oil but I’m thinking this isn’t a great thing. I’m thinking either I have blow-by at the piston rings that’s pressurizing the crankcase (highly doubtful) or the PCV valve is maybe on the way out (it’s original, so much more likely). I ordered a Mopar PCV valve, part number 53034065AA, so I can swap it out. 08’s are like the 07 KJ in terms of PCV location. Are there any issues I should be aware of before attempting the swap?

Went to a gun show on Saturday and this happened:

The neat part is that I had to travel a fair way to get to the show. I knew I was going to turn over 100,000 so I kept an eye on it all the way. When I hit 99,999 I was out in farmland so I pulled over to get the first pic. A minute later I pulled over again to capture the magic moment. I guess the local farmers noticed me stopping twice since a bunch of them ran out of their house and began waving. They must have known I was coming back from the gun show because they even brought out their rifles and shotguns and were waving them around enthusiastically, along with nice remarks like "Want some of this?" and "How would you like some buckshot for the ride home?". It is really cool to meet fellow hobbyists when you least expect it!

Destroyed a shock so replaced it..rebuilt the cv on the prop shaft , bushing on rack replaced it was gone and oil change ....ready to get abused again

Went out Jeep parts shopping today, few places to hit in a 100 mile area
Turn signals front and rear tailights for 02-04 only 10 bucks
silver center pieces around radio/shifter 10 bucks
5) 2018 Wrangler Rubicon 17 inch wheels , Jeep had 90 miles when removed 100 bucks for all
( ran into a guy with a 19 Wrangler while pumping gas, on way home with stock wheels , sold them for 200 )
Supposedly the one guy I went to see had a 4 cyl gasser , it was a CRD :( no 4.10s for me today
Not a productive day , but met a lot of great Jeep owners and made some money so great day
Too rainy to do anything else

Girlfriend goes out of town this weekend into next weekend, so gives me about a week of "After work playtime" with her Jeep.

I wanna throw the lift on while she's away, and replace a few sensors/gaskets that are going bad. Oil pressure sensor, PCV valve, etc. etc.

Oh and throw on the front seat covers.

I'll be doing all four brakes either a today or over the weekend. Dang woman keeps making plans over my fix days. I will hopefully be able to replace the tie rod end I ripped a boot on, too. If I do everything today, I'll rotate the tires, as well. If not, I'm due for a free balance and rotate. Actually, I'll just count on that.

I also have some power steering fluid leaking very slowly. The frame is wet underneath, and it leaves a drip here and there. A quick peek left me thinking it's just a hose. I hope that's what I find when I dive into it.

After work this afternoon, drove 4 miles to the " Mall area " for some grub
Where I work is out middle of nowhere so no restaurant's etc
Anyways just get on the big road and a mile down sits a liberty , hood up , an older lady and a younger one standing beside of it.
Pulled over and she explained it had been making noises under the hood but her " good for nothing father " ( her words ) wouldn't look at it
Took a look and one of the pulleys on the idler assembly was completely gone and belt was all chewed up.
She ( the younger one ) was almost in tears , not knowing what to do, told her to hold on.
Grabbed tools, used belt, used idler assembly from my KJ .
ten minutes later got a hug from both of them and the younger one offered me all the money she had on her, less than 20 bucks, and would mail me more when she got paid .
Asked her where they were going she said shopping for some food , and then home
I suggested I take them both out to eat, then they could shop ,and to just to follow me
After a nice meal at Applebee's, another round of hugs and they were on there way
Always great to have extra parts with ya to help folks out
Both of them have been out of work due to Covid,or just working part time, just getting started back full time, not much money for food let alone Jeep repairs
Always makes you feel good when you can help someone out, make them smile and lighten their load if only for a few hours.

Thanks, and I could tell they were both hungry, just by the way they were talking between their selves, while I was working on the KJ.
Trying to figure out what groceries they could buy that would make the most food, been there before myself , so understand what it is like .
Then her Mom said what if he wants too much to fix it , do you have any extra stashed away ( quietly talking but could catch most of what they were saying. )

Changed brake light. Put tint on front doors to match the tint in the rear (hate the two tone tint look.)

tomorrow I put on new sway bar bushings and oil pressure sensor.

then off to help church with moving a foster mom.

I don't usually get any opportunity to help anyone like that.

I did help a girl change a spare tire a few months ago. She was half on the highway trying ineffectively to change it. Far too dangerous not to do it for her and get her off the highway.

I got my spare tire mounted. I think it actually was my right rear, the one that from time to time sets off the low tire warning on the dash and reads 21 lbs.

Anyway, at least now if I get a flat I got something to put on, something to change to.

I got to get the Autel MK808 I bought on the Jeep and see what I can get out of the tire pressure sensors, if anything.

If I can, I notice the guy with the body shop where they did the front window (smashed by deer) on my Honda car has a Snap On tire pressure monitor system tool. I don't know if he has used it yet, they say he just got it. I'll be happy to be the first one to get him to use it.

Also, in searching the online inventory of new at the junkyard cars, two Libertys have appeared 2002 and 2006, both blue.

Anyone in northern Ohio know of any place that will assemble the OME lift for the front? Strut mounts, spring and shock? So far no one will touch customer supplied parts.

I just replaced all if this last weekend. The axle end of the CV had a serious amount of play. Inside the axle tube, there is a seal and plastic bushing, if it’s still original. There are bearings that can be installed, instead. National Bearing’s number is B228. Mine is now solid with minimal play.

Someone else posted recently their cv axles had play and the answer was to replace the mid shaft... wouldnt the new one have play too if they didnt replace the bearing?
Im only asking because in 2017/18 i did replace the shaft and axles, so IF there is play now, and it rattles down the road, would replacing the bearing ALSO require a new mid shaft?

All depends, I have replaced many Intermediate shafts and CVs and never replaced the bearings or seals
But if they are excessively worn and ran for a long time then yes I would advice new bearings and seals since more than likley beat them up pretty well.
Most all I replaced were not bad , just to the point they were needing to be replaced , unlike some who run them till they are thumping going down the road
I always look at them, if they are a bit rusted or worn any I just replace both the CV and Intermediate shaft

Yes, the bearing is behind the seal. Most sources I’ve found say to replace the bearing if you’re doing the seals. The seal was bad on mine. I’ll have the joy of doing the driver’s side this summer, too.
