Water pumps have a "weep hole" in the casting to let you know the seals are finished and the bearings are on their way to being "all washed up" as the grease gets washed out and the bearings fail. Weep hole is usually on the bottom. That's where the smoke/steam is getting out.

Aaaannndd there's air in the system.

Well turns out the whine noise is coming from my rear differential. The mechanic I took it too said that it's going to need to be rebuilt and that it would cost between $1,800 to $2,400. I'm going to take it to another place and see what they say, but definitely was not expecting a repair like this.
Got another estimate, and they quoted me $1,200 to do the bearings, axle seals, etc. and $1,700 if the ring and pinion also need to be done.

Wunderbar! This makes sense with the symptoms I've observed. New pump arrives today.

Had a pair of Terratura ATs put on the rears, seem to be getting a good reputation locally.
Ordered a pair of new front calipers and hoses, £150 shipped from Germany, £300 in UK, go figure. Also sorted my transfer box cable issue so no longer stuck in full time 4WD, although to be honest it's saved my bacon more than a couple of times over the past month.

Got some Zep Oxy clean and started shampooing my seats. Stuff works pretty damn good. i want to rub it out, but says you need to blot it...

The driverside bushing has been swelled up, and coming apart for some time now. I scoured the web for polyurethane rack bushings, got them in the mail today. Got both of them replaced in about 3.5 hours.

Got the new pump in. Super easy. Getting the air out, not so much, but I figured it out.
Now dealing with the gremlins from having HOAT sprayed all over the engine compartment.
Emabassingly, I suspect the pump had been on its last leg since my last enduro adventure. I didn't observe any drips or noise and didn't investigate after my last oil change when they mentioned I was a quart or two low back in September. Shame on me.

Random charging and ETC lights for a bit had me scared, but all is well. Had to clean a lot of coolant out of connectors and such.

Waiting on a 160 amp alternator to get delivered- been meaning to do that anyway and I no longer trust the one that is in there.

I just installed my OME rear springs and shocks. Very simple installation as I finished repairing from my wreck. Looks great, thanks to all who recommended the part numbers as well as where to find them. Axle, brakes, control arms are all set! There's a slight drift to the right while driving, pretty good considering everything on the rear axle was replaced except the driveshaft. Rear hub-to-fender on the driver side is 21.25", passenger side is 21.75". Front hub-to-fender is 19.25 driver, 19.75 passenger with a cheap spacer lift that needs to go. Two questions: when I get my OME struts and springs for the front, do I set them as close to the rear hub-to-fender height as I can, or no? Also, why is there a .5" difference between the driver and passenger side in the front and rear? And ideas for this, and what do you do for this?

My jeep eats speed sensors. One a year. Usually around December / January. Harness was replaced and is not compromised by any means. Just dead sensors : or cuts in and out.

So this is the one that sits ontop of the rear end. Curious as to why they call it the ABS sensor across various sites. My jeep does not have ABS but I would have assumed the ABS gets its signal from the sensor on the hubs/bearings

The lower front struts mount bushings seem to be collapsing. Can I replace those without replacing the whole lower arm? Do I need to reuse my upper mount and isolators when I install an OME lift?

Get the 927 OMEs for front and OME SHOCKS , we do not have struts, struts are on cars with no upper control arms , yes companies call em that but they are just advertising
install them should set you at 21.5 in front
I would not mess with the difference in height until you do that since one side in front maybe lower which will throw back off somewhat esp with a spacer lift

I might be a dead man soon.
Dude with the PT Cruiser I'm interested in and been chatting with since November just told me $1000 and it's mine. it's got some issues. some cosmetics, possibly needs a clutch, and it might need a short block. 3 out of 4 cylinders are way down on compression (half or less.) Ball park another grand to do all that.

would need to de-plow-ify the jeep to go get it.

And sourcing a spare pigtail for the sensor comes up as a power steering switch. But check this out. Can also be used for a abs wheel speed sensor for the front left. None of which is true for 2002 without abs or even my 03 with abs lol. It’s amazing that anyone can even find these parts

Specifically, I finally got around to test fitting the ramp basket I bought ($65), and see if it would work with the blower. It does.

Now we just need some snow!
