My Jeep is back on the road with a new serpentine belt, tensioner, idler pulleys and power steering pump which was a bit of a falling dominos scenario. And a new thermostat! Temp is now a knats **** off vertical and holding 90 degrees on the laser scanner in sub zero (C) wind-chill. I've taken the blanking petals off the grill and the magic frog has got its smile back. I'll leave the shielding on the lower half of the transmission cooler until we are out of the winter. Next week we are back down to -7c (19f) so will be a good proofing ground.

Got some consistent rough idle/MIL on due to #6. Yeah, I am due for plugs, but #6 has been problematic from the start. Creeping up on 190k.

Busy day today - installed the amp for my sub, put a new set of door speakers in, and installed a Dynomax muffler.

i have to install a new muffler as mine is blown out on the side. How was it installing the new one? any tips or tricks?

If you are going aftermarket and still have your bolt flange right before the muffler, a piece of cake.
If you do not have this flange, then just go to your local auto store and get some exhaust tubing/adapters and clamps to make it all fit. Its what I did as I had no bolt on flange.
Muffler now sits secure, high and tight. No wiggle no droop.

Changed the fuel filter, pulled the viscous relay and started scraping rust and sludge out of the axle tubes. Found nobody in England seems to stock the pinion nut but the local nut & bolt shop have 7/8 UNF nyloc's on the shelf so I'll get a couple tomorrow.

This is my first time posting on KJforums. I just bought a 2005 KJ, CRD LIMITED, with 117k miles. Got a great history with clean carfax and other details https://epicvin.com/vin-decoder/jeep and perfect maintenance which I will continue myself. It's in wonderful condition, inside and outside; I just took it on a 1500 mile road trip and it performed beautifully. Averaging 75 mph, I got 25 mpg out of my 2.8 diesel. The previous owner had a 1.5" spacer lift installed along with 245/70/16s, grimace, 'professionally' at the local 4WP shop, 'grimace again'. I've already read a good bit on all the threads; I know the spacers are awful, and Four Wheel Parts is questionable; but WHERE do I go from here. I've got plans for my KJ; I want to run Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts at 265/70/r16 on the stock rims; I know I need an OME lift at 2" minimum. I've got the heavy diesel motor along with a steel bull bar and 30" light bar; My jeep must sit level! Also it's my daily driver so I need it to ride well on the road. What part numbers do I need, and where on earth do I order the OME parts? The diesel has plenty of power for the new tires, but I will still regear if I can; are the gear ratios different for the diesel? I have the 5 point selec-trac transfer case, but where do I find the Lok-Trac rear diff? Is it an automatic LSD, or is it a controlled Lsd/locker? Also where do I find skid plates? I can't find a transmission or transfer case skid plate anywhere. It comes with an engine plate already, but I've got a stamped steel transmission pan that I could puncture with my hammer...
It could be really difficult to find the transmission plates

It was really easy to do as my truck still has the bolt on flange. It is easier to get the old system out in one piece if you have the car on a hoist or jack stands so you can lower the rear axle.

leaving it parked outside, so the rain can wash off some of the salt from the one and only plowing event this season.

I did mine flat on the ground, and it's not even lifted that much.

Lost the Jeep 2 weeks ago :( RIP. Hydroplaned at 60mph, lost the back end and couldn't save it. Slash didn't want to go to my right into 6 lanes of traffic. Did a 180 counter-clockwise, passenger rear quarter hit the concrete wall and I slid a ways down the hill on the interstate. At least this happened after I dropped the kiddos off. Shockingly, I did not hit a single other car. Airbag did not go off. Insurance totaled the car, as I expected. Got more money than if I had sold it or traded in, ha, that's the bright side. Cleanest car in the tow lot (biased lol). Super bummed.

This community was good to me and I wish everyone the best! Don't let your tire tread get low, that's 100% what did me in during this morning heavy rain. I'll post again on here sometime to sell various parts and painted steel wheels I have lying around that never made it on the Jeep.
I spun out on the ice two months ago, but there was only a curb to hit. I know how it feel, spinning helplessly in traffic hoping that you don't run into anyone. I was only going about 30 mph, but it was a much smaller road and I still don't know how I didn't hit anyone in the lanes around me. It is definitely a very scary moment. As a result I am still looking for some parts for mine, what about those wheels? Can you post some pictures?

Collected my newly welded & crack tested (so should be gas - &, more importantly, airtight) exhaust downpipes/cats. Wasted most of the afternoon trying to fit the RH one but gave up as the light stated to fail & the temp drop.
Realised afterwards that the answer is probably to fit the other one first. Oh well, better luck tomorrow.

I got the front knuckles, clevis brackets, and the rear brake brackets sand blasted. The rear axle had a leaking seal, and its time to replace the front wheel bearings. Getting everything painted today. With a bit of antisieze it come apart easier than before.

Finally got the exhaust back on, not too bad a job in the event. One of the manifold clamps fell off, after resisting my attempts to remove them when the front section came off whenever that was. Cleaning & inspecting it so I could actually see how it worked helped a lot, as did antiseize, which meant the nut would spin on by hand & the clip would slip over the flanges. Positioning it for best access to the nut also made life a lot easier.

That just leaves the O2 sensors as a separate job, which I suspect will take almost as long.

Oh, & the welding was (quite a bit) cheaper than the quote - & that included splicing the plug for one sensor to a spare one I had off an XJ (long story I won't bore you with) & testing them all.

Also found I can keep it in a hotel parking lot, about 10,15 mins. walk away, for £30 a month (I've been looking for off-street parking for a couple of years now) so will arrange that once I know it's ready to drive down there - hopefully next weekend. So that's another worry off my mind, while I deal with a few details for inspection, pay the man the money & it's legal again.

Finally checked my check engine light, having an issues with small evap leak. Surprised also to get the P0700 as a bonus. Further had a P0562. So after setting in front of this computer for hours reading about rebuild kits, valve bodies, TCM, torque converters and all other transmission problems, went outside open the hood and right there it was a loose
neg cable at the battery. Did get me the order parts to change the transmission oil and filter. Going to do a smoke test on her to try and find the leak.

Glad you are ok...judging by the photographer's reflexion...Go Hokies!(?) Anyway, reminds me...I need new tires in a big way.
