Just realized you are in VA. He isn't close to you but call Randy @ Rye Valley Gear. He's in Sugar Grove..he has the heads for the shaft. He may be able to fix yours.
Concerned, yes. The boot is filled with grease. The grease is in there for the bearings. No grease = bad bearings. It'll eventually grind like hell and then kaput. This is VERY common w/ the liberty. I sold more than 600 of these last winter. Here's the pisser. Napa (if they have them)...
Use a spotter until you are able to build more confidence. I worry more about rolling over since I rolled onto a tree w/ my TJ. Now every truck I have and anywhere I go I worry about it.
I've got these rubicon shafts in stock. I can't get a strait answer on what year they fit. If someone can get me some good info I'd really appreciate it!

Best thing you can do is diagnose the issue and buy parts to replace. Send me a PM if you'd like. I'll probably get you the best prices on 8.25 stuff. You only feel vibration when turning though? No humming/whirring/whizzing?
I rented one once. Right after I gave it back I went online to apply for Chrysler credit because I wanted one so bad. I'm also 6'4" 250lbs. Very comfy for me.
I'm going to have to disagree w/ you guys here. This is something you DO NOT want to ignore at all. I also wouldn't take it to the dealer either. You've got to take everything out of the diff to replace it. It's a labor intensive job. It's a good idea to purchase a master kit. This will...
Sounds pretty good to me. Although I've got a trac lock in my V8 explorer which works well when it's wet. Def. not invisible and it's got 140,000 on it. I always recommend ARB air lockers..just so damn expensive.
