My guess is cv boot was torn and the joint is going bad. My 2002 kj did that and that is what it was. Fairly easy change out.

Ha just read all the posts. Congrats on finding it.
I had a ARB and a warm m8000 and it never dropped it if it did it was maybe 1/16". That is with steel cable and lights. You should be fine. I had an ome HD lift.
Odd. I used to break mine off all the time on my KJ. Discount tire went through a cross thread period. I think I broke off...18 or so. Lol. All with a star wrench too. No breaker bar needed. I wonder if it was welded on or they used some special locker. ? Just a thought.

When I sold mine it had roughly 137k miles. Running strong. As for $2k for heads holy hell. A good shop here in town will rebuild them for about $5-700. That isn't including install but that isn't too hard to do. Depending on your wrenching skills.

Easy solution...get a arb bumper. :)
I just cut a small hole to get a finger behind the door when I had the stock bumper. Tin snips work well.

Yes you can remove and reinstall with it on. I have changed out almost all my studs.
You need a bfh to knock them out then pick up new ones from the dealer. They are only about $7 each. If you get the ones from napa or autozone you will have to work a little more at they are a few microns...
JKs are fun! I love mine. If you get an automatic I recommend a 2012. They have a bit more power. If you don't mind a dog, lol, go with a 2007-2011. I have a 2008 and honestly don't think it is that bad. I am only at a 33" with a OME 2.5 hd lift on it. But I am eyeing a OME 4" with 37's. :)...
Do you leave you iPod plugged in all the time? I was having same issue and that was my thing. Unplugged iPod and good since.
