Wow that is quite the story...not all good either...
Was there no way to call somebody with a tow strap to get you out?
Even a wrecker with a cable....would be a "solid" choice over a "hole" lot of trouble..

At 12:00 in the morning, the only thing that I have that's "Affordable" is "Roadside" assistance...not off road. Was unsure of any towing companies so I just decided to wing it. Luckily it worked after only an hour and a half of being stuck. But I was thinking through all options, and there was of course all of that described drama leading up to breaking away from the beach.

Well I guess the main thing is that u got it out.
I hope you can/will post a photo of the puncture rip/damage.
Does it look like simply some welding with a small patch repair will suffice?

Yeah i think so. Looks like we might have to weld in an extra bit of sheet metal.

It doesn't have to be super strong. Just water tight.

And here is part of the sandy aftermath that was my Jeep after spinning a whole reverse rooster tail of sand into the Jeep:

That's just a small hole, nothing a lottle bit of silicone can't fix! ;)
Other than that, did you have a good time at the beach? :happy175:

Now that I have seen the photos..that *****.
I am just glad no one said "that'll buff right out" cause it won't.
Marty are you going to get the repairs estimated at a body shop?

Nah, that won't buff out, the jagged edges would tear a buffer to pieces! ;)
That doesn't look nearly as bad as you described. A little hammer & dolly work and a few minutes with sparky, and she'll be practically good as new. It will take almost as long to peel back the interior for carbeque prevention as it will to do the actual fix.

Honestly I'm not that concerned. I did bring it to the body shop. I'm family friends with the guy there. He told me I could just pound it down and caulk around the open areas and edges and it should be good. I still told him to just take care of it. He's going to bang it down, stitch it up, and prime it. All for like $300. Not terrible. Just want to make sure it doesn't rust!!

And honestly it was such a funny story that I'm glad I did it. Just wasn't so glad at the time... :)

trailer is fixed.
pulled the 9' ish of wire out of the axle tube and sure enough, 2 segments of it had multi-inches long places where the insulation was completely gone and the bare wires were touching the tube. both hot and ground wires had chafed in different places. explains why it was shorting out! new wire installed and its good to go.

Thursday is going to be a "combo" day for me it looks like...
trailering car over to shop to get inspected
drop off MOABs to get shoe'd
ditch trailer at shop and go shooting. :D
hopefully reverse all that after I'm done killing paper.

then next Tuesday I'll probably go pick up the plow.

also, pulled the #6 coil out, cleaned it off, blew out the hole and reinstalled. no more miss. the seals SUCK on the coils.

Replaced oil pressure sensor on the 06,then took it and the 07 in for hitch inspection at the dealer.
Both passed with no action required.

Removed the "Liberty" lettering on the front doors, The "3.7L" and dealer sticker from the swing gate, They were peeling and looked bad, Left the Renegade badges and the Jeep logo on the hood and rear as well as the 4X4 badge as they are still mint, Looks much better now!

DAMNIT!!!
Just remembered... I have an engine block heater I wanted to install. Probably should have done that when I did the water pump.
