Update on my pan drop fiasco accidentally putting 5 quarts of atf in my engine oil and leaving the trans short 5 quarts didnt kill her thank god and it may have even helped my oil consumption problem also found out it wasnt the pan gasket leaking but the pressure sensor sneaky bugger had me fooled

Note that i do not in any way recommend putting 5 quarts of atf in with your already full oil this was a mistake and i could have done alot of damage i would never recommend this to anyone so dont do it i am a rookie and f ed up got really lucky she is still ok
I pulled off both front wheels and molded the plastic more to minimize rubbing even more. The driver side over the pinch weld had to be remolded to fit closer to the weld and i pushed the front part more towards the bumper and just needed to push the front part of the passenger side in more. Also, I took off the front air dam which was harder than thought. Apparently on the 04 Liberty, there's two metal things that "hook" into place in 3 directions on the other side. After getting fed up on trying to pry it off, I just drilled the suckers out and the air dam came right off.

Drove up to 7-bridges for some fishing with a buddy. We had to do some bushwacking to get back to the water, but it was worth it. We each caught 8-10 Northern, and I caught a nice Largemouth. Good times.

Yesterday, I took the Libby on a 210 mile round trip to visit a couple of my daughters and their families (I have 4 daughters).
On the return trip, at about the halfway point (55 miles from home), I suddenly get a strong odor from the vents. The odor smelled like rubber burning. My first thought was that the after-market 80/100 watt headlight bulbs were too much for the electrical and perhaps the wires or sockets were overheated. I found a place to pull over under a bright light and popped the hood. The wires and sockets were cool to the touch, so no problem there. Drove a few more miles and suddenly the A/C stops cooling and the odor intensified to the point it made my eyes burn.
Pulled over under another bright light in a restaurant parking lot and popped the hood. Super strong odor and some black goo on the high pressure A/C line. Shut off the A/C and rolled down my windows for the rest of the trip.
Boy, I'm afraid that this is going to be an expensive repair job. Taking it in to my mechanic today and let him give me the bad news.

Mine's not nearly as serious, but I drove approx 75 mi yesterday evening with good cold a/c only coming from defrost vents, no matter which position the selector was set in. It's set with the battery disconnected for the past week, and just before that I had the dash control panel pulled and may have gotten something disconnected. I'm confident the issue is due to one or the other conditions. Though if it's from being left "dead" I don't know how to reactivate it.

Atleast your problems are from natural cause my ******** put 5 quarts atf in my engine oil and left the trans short 5 quarts i could have killed her at my own hand or atleast cost myself thousands yea cost myself no one elses fault no natural causes i am pretty big into looking on the bright side as for lester you made it to see your daughter and one day you might cherish that day you drove your jeep till it burned your eyes to see her i just had my first her name is Mia i would drive as long as it takes to see her one day

i am rough on myself because i have a bad temper i used to drink and smoke alot :mexsmoke: i gave it all up about a year ago and it has left me with a bit of a temper i have learned to control pretty good until i do something dumb and it ticks me off because i am very smart very mechanically inclined and if i never wasted my time i would know alot more by now im only 25 i have high standards for myself even though i never did stuff before

The bright side 5 quarts atf in my engine oil has really slowed down my oil consumption did the oil change last week and have not lost any i can see
I learned to drive in my dads 2000 dodge ram 1500 van best thing i could have done learn to parralel park a van really teaches how to use the mirrors not looking back like people in there little cars looking back doesnt show you where the curb is just how far you got to hit the car behind you teach her how to use all her mirrors to park she will thank you later when she graduates out of the toyota and wants your libby

She'll get the Toyota and that's about it. She wants something else, she'll have to buy it. She's going to learn on a stick so she can drive anything, not just an auto. I learned on a stick, my brothers learned on a stick...oh, and it has manual steering, no power.
She's amazingly good with spatial orientation (always has been) and will be fine at parallel parking, unlike some of my friends for whom I have to get into the seat and parallel park if they drove.

She passed - she has her learner's permit. Oy....
Side note: when did MD switch to outsourcing the actual license/learner's permit? You don't get one on-site any more. You get a piece of paper with a barcode and the license shows up in the mail.
