initial test: how to make a longer, plow adapter bracket.

yes, I know the underside needs some lovin'. it's coming... I promise.

suggestions on type of paint(s) to use under there would be appreciated. brush or rattle can, I don't care, although I'd think brush would be less messy and with less overspray.

I spray paint on quarterly

got the driver side front wheel hub assembly changed.
The Timken part didn't come with a grommet so I sliced the cone shaped grommet to get it out of the old wiring to put it with the new wiring.

Still had the movement between the 3 to 9 position.
Looks like I have an outer tie rod end to replace.
I see movement at the tie rod ball joint.

drilled the crossing holes in the bracket. now I have to wait for Daniel to get back from vacation and go over some ideas.
thinking... cut a couple upright strips that we'll drill through, line the bracket back up, then tack the strips in place.
also thinking... for the two forward holes that the plow frame bolts pass through, we'll make them slots so we can play with the fore/aft distance. once it's determined, weld on alignment shims made from the same thickness material. that way if later on I need to change it, we can just cut the shims off and reset it.

also, does anyone know of a winch "dog house" that's rigid? thinking of relocating the license plate to there.

Just changed my first mobil 1 oil a month early cause of how dirty it got, it definitely does the job when it comes to cleaning things up in there

I still think the best stuff is Mobil1. I really liked the high mileage stuff I scored a while back for about 20 bucks a jug. Should have bought a few more. Amazing how these modern oils clean. I've had a pretty good experience with all the synthetics I've tried. I frequently wind up back with the Supetech from Wallyworld. It's pretty good stuff too for the money. I usually buy what's on sale at a number of different places. :happy160:

I was sceptical about the cleaning properties and thought i had the engine decently clean, wrong on both counts lol, got mobil1 5-30 in there now with a wix 51516, you should have seen the gunk in the wix i pulled off though, ********, gona run some mmo or atf into the oil when i end up changing it again, we'll see if there's more cleaning to be done yet

I've done the 20% MMO thing and it does work. I stick with a short OCI for that cause it really thins the oil (like 1500 miles). Wix and Motorcraft are my go to favorite filters. Mobil1 and K&N when they are on sale.

Yah i won't have it in there long, im thinking only 2 to 5 days or so depending on how dirty the oil gets

Did it hook onto his hood? You could have towed him home. And your Jeep didn't blow up either, guess the hitch recall really is a success. :happy175:
