What did I do to my jeep today?

I traded it in for a minivan.

Are you still around the forum? I live in Eagan and need some work done on my Jeep Liberty. Interested?

Huge stump! That' not firewood until it's chainsawed up! Did the jeep manage to pull it ok in reverse?

I split all my wood by hand, this would be a bit much to do.

In 2 low there was not enough traction in the just the rear, 4 low no problem.

I have the teraflex 2wd low kit and love it, its great for going slow. Very useful for not technical sections on the trails, and useful around the farm for moving wagons.

I want that teraflex kit. sadly they never made it for the 241J, and it looks like they discontinued making it for the 231J.

Installed new trilink after letting the bushings cure, installed jba's extension back there too. Now sitting tall and proud in the rear, actually a bit more control/grip than I'm used to, which is ever so sweet. Now to get tires mounted and an alignment. And and 02 sensor. Anyone want a used Boomerang? I now have 4 hanging on the fence...

Lug nut saga, chapter 2.

A couple of weeks ago I replaced 18 of the 20 lug nuts on my Jeep with new Mopar, because most of them were in bad shape (all but 8 were toast when I took them off). Two were pretty stuck, and I broke the end off my 1/4” breaker bar. So, I got some impact-quality sockets and a 1/2” drive breaker bar and tried that today.

I hammered a socket onto the broken lug nuts before attempting to twist them off. This worked on one of them. The other, all I did was round it off. This is the one where the chrome outside came off. The 19 mm socket was of course too big now. So was the 18, so I hammered on the 17 cm socket. Here is the result.

I don’t know if you can tell, but the nut is deformed now, completely rounded off, and remains just as stuck.

Is it time to drill and replace the stud?

edit:
I could try penetrating oil and one of those bolt remover tools. Or I could see if an air impact might budge it at a local shop. Other than that, I’m out of ideas.

Lug nut saga: Chapter 3

So, I got the kit of lug nut removers. Hammered the 17 cm one on. Smacked my thumb for good measure with the hammer once. That’s how you know it’s good and on.

All I was able to do was round it off even more. o_O This is after zapping it with Aerokroil every few days for the last week and a half.

Now what? :(

Yes, I think that's the next best play. There is a Meineke a couple of blocks away from my house that could probably put an impact on it.

Thanks for the sympathy! This is the worst stuck lug nut I've ever had on any vehicle I've ever owned. I've always been able to get them off until now. I really don't want any shops using impacts to put my lug nuts back on, ever. o_O

Yeah whoever put that thing on shouldn't be allowed to touch tools

I'd be breaking out the welder and a sacrificial nut, and a sacrificial socket.

Or, have you tried a torch to warm it up?

starting to think one of those is in my future, just in case.

front shocks,......struts are on cars without upper control arms
and if replacing rear shocks, replace the springs as well, weak springs make the shocks work harder, wearing them out faster

I call these struts...

Don't know which you replaced since we don't have struts
Done over 60 KJ lifts and have never touched a strut in doing any of them LOL
Touched coilover shocks plenty , but.................whatever trips your trigger

Most manufactures list the KJ front coil over assemblies as struts, take Monroe for example. They list part number 171577L as a strut.
Though I don't know if being a part of MacPherson style suspension is the deciding difference between strut and coil over.
