People have had mixed results with iridium plugs, but reliable results with NGK copper core plugs changed every 30000 miles. That said, I don’t think these plugs or coils are a problem for you because the misfire stayed in cylinder 2. Fingers crossed that the leak down and compression tests tell you what you need to know. If not from a head gasket issue, the misfires could be caused by something like a rocker arm being loose or falling off, which has been known to happen.

Will do, but that doesn't explain the symptoms not moving with the plugs or coils.
Have you manually reset the codes after the work was done? What were your compression results? What compression tester did you use? HAve you run Techron through the engine as described here on the forums? Have you tried MMO as described here on the forums? How's your valves looking?

I did a reset each time and (I've done it 3 times now) sometimes it shows misfire on 2 after a few miles or after ~50 miles. I'm doing the test on Saturday because I'm only with the Jeep on the weekends (work out of state).

I’ve had a similar issue with number 6 since I bought Bert. Gave up troubleshooting as no one can figure it out thus far. It will run fine for hundreds of miles, then just misfire for a bit with a slightly rough idle, then clear on its own. Hence my questions.

Picked up a really comfortable cooling gel/ memory foam seat pad at Wally World. Solved my problem with hard stock seats and scrawny dude no-butt syndrome.

could be a bad wire to the coil. good luck tracing that though. any sign of rodent damage anywhere? I don't think ours used soy based wire insulation.

I did absolutely nothing. And same for the last several months and it feels great that it's not bleeding me dry financially! Considering getting a sun shade though but I want it to fit right...

I'm going to check the wiring after the compression test, leak down test, and an inspection of the head with the valve cover off. Will report back in a few days

The 07 KJ has been parked for the for a few weeks now. The clutch is slipping. I’m planning on doing the job myself, any advice on the clutch job process. Thank you.
Just be aware that the Flywheel is curved....not flat!

Minor scratch marks on the Flywheel can be sanded out but it must NOT be machined flat!

Given that no system is perfect and every component has tolerances, perhaps that specific circuit is at the lower end of the tolerance window, and the presence of the iridum plugs is pushing the system too far, causing the random misfiring.
Couple that with these vehicles known predilection for having bizarro issues when the electrical system gets weak due to an aging battery, and it's really easy to be chasing your tail if you're not careful.

Universe continues to try and keep me out of the desert. It looks like I’m going to have to change my entire itinerary AND take the portable air conditioner…my wife F’ed up bad (caught Covid in San Diego so can’t travel) …so I’m going to have to take the elderly pug patrol with me.

Good news is I’m so well prepared, it will be fun as hell to have the boys with me…and I can run AC to keep them alive.

Gods help me, I’ve become an overland glamper….

Just head for Vegas , there are plenty of women walking around that will help you find your " fossil "
I hate Vegas. I got ejected from The Belagio for card counting. Not my fault it was 3 am and they were running a two deck shoe. And to be frank can barely stand the gal at home…last thing I need is a paid headache. LOL. I might actually pass through to get to the Mojave Desert Land Trust preserve though…former student is interning there and might be able to get a permit to do some field work in a place no one is allowed beyond scientists. They don’t need to know I’m not a real biologist. Naturalist is my actual title, but Im in the wrong century.

Today I am organizing the basement shelf labeled “Vehicles & Yard.” It has become a dumping ground for all sorts of stuff! My first task was to get all the non-vehicle stuff out so I am left with just Jeep stuff to organize.

As I work I’ll let you know what I find that I don’t need. Before I junk it I want to see if anyone needs any of it. So far, the following would be free if you pay shipping, or you can pick up in the Philadelphia area.

- OEM slate gray KK floor mats, hardly used (replaced years ago by rubber Husky Liners).

- Left and Right KK side mirrors. The left side housing was clipped by a vehicle and epoxied back together years ago but it all still works. I replaced them with heated mirrors.

- Gates serpentine belt, never used, K060868. Supposed to fit my KK but was a hair too short. I expect it is for KJ’s that used a different tensioner but you can check.

Probably more to come. This is what I have unearthed and added to the give away pile so far.

The Mojave beats Vegas everytime - if only the DHS hadn't changed the rules, so visitors are no longer welcome :(

So the “gas cap “ warning returned. Just like last time, the twin vac hose on the unit by the battery came disconnected. Also, the fuel burp disappeared again. A few tanks back. What a poorly designed system. Lol

Repacking for the trip a third time. Looks like goal of minimizing roof rack use is a bust. Hitch carrier blocks the license plate so trying to avoid it too.

The ‘unit’ is the EVAP solenoid, yes? My ‘gas cap’ issue was a hole worn in the bottom of the tubing near said item.
