Drove all over town to ship some parts from my old truck to some people out of state, swung by the dealer to make an appointment for a transmission and power steering flush, and got her washed. Then, bought beer! :party52:

I had to order last week a 28qt Igloo Electric Cooler for the trip. So its all nice and ready to go. Spacious enough to hold some food for sandwiches, and her water. I'm a little odd I prefer my canned or bottled drinks at room temp, keeps people from stealing them.

I just now realized that we have a power port in the back. One of those electric coolers is an excellent idea!

I am ready for almost anything

Good lord, man, you came this close to guaranteeing something breaks at 3am on a deserted stretch of highway! :happy175:

See I considered a electric cooler but two things. One price. The other what if it drains your battery? I was considering a solar panel charger just in case but I don't plan on going anywhere crazy remote... yet...

Drove to the gym with my new Philips 9007XVS2 X-Treme Vision headlights. Wow - what a difference. It almost feels like I was running on fog lights only before. I was stopped at a light and the glare off the back of the car in front of me was impressive and the way they lit up the road off to both sides was also dramatically better. This might be the best $30 upgrade you could do.

had to put the big charger on the jeep.
not sure if the plow brain draws a lot or what, but the battery was too flat to start the jeep. need to keep an eye on that, and maybe look for a date stamp on the battery. I've had the jeep for 4 years so, maybe the battery is getting ready to fall over?

Back in '07, family Christmas was at my aunt's place in the Catskills. It's the old west pasture of her family's dairy farm, up on the side of a hill with a dirt/stone driveway. I rented a Libby (great foresight on my part) because my old Astro wasn't ready yet and I hadn't yet bought my Bravada. I had just gotten an electric cooler and we stashed it in the back with food and drinks for the trip. That rear power port was perfect...and then the Libby ferried my entire family - and their stuff - up and down that hill in the snow.

One of my brothers had a front-wheel drive Saturn wagon then; that made it almost halfway up. The other has a Nissan Quest and that didn't make it past the first turn.

One of the reasons why I bought the Libby, I saw the power port and the light bulb clicked on for an electric cooler if we travel on vacation again which I thought was never going to happen.

Dropped off the old motor oil and picked up some Valvoline Synthetic ATF+4 for the transfer case and some Lucas 75w90 for the diffs. Going to change those Friday.

While I was there, I picked up a new Super Start Platnium AGM battery, as mine was really dragging if the jeep sat for more than 12 hours. The old battery was a DuraLast Platnium from '10, so it was time for a new one, and the tester confirmed it. Supposedly the Super Start is made by East Penn/Deka, and is basically their Intimidator but re-bagged. Oddly enough, the picture on O'Reilly's website doesn't really match the battery, which is a dual-post and looks like the Intimidator but with different labels. We'll see how it holds up, but at almost $100 cheaper than DieHard Platnium, it was hard to pass up. It certainly kicks the starter over with more authority!

Also tried to installed my front tow hooks I got off eBay. That back nut. Man.

Also ordered a genuine Jeep molded cargo mat, with logo, for the rear. I was looking at the Weathertech, to match my floor mats, but the Jeep one will let you access the tie-downs with it installed, and was actually cheaper. Go figure.

Cleaned a foot of snow off the roof of it with this storm that battered Iowa, moved it to a clean parking stall in the parking lot, then took care of the wifes car and thought it wasn't going to get out but did thankfully on two tries of backing up.

Spent $160 for a safety inspection, and to have the steiger kit put in on the passenger front window today. Over all not bad, the tech questioned me on the kit because of course the window was behaving when it came into the shop. Told him what it does when it thaws out and I want this kit put in since its metal. He nodded and did it, of course he also questioned why I have shanked lug nuts and 8mm spacers, then was a touch nervous when he said he used a breaker bar to loosen them but they were still a bit tough with the impact. To which I told him as long as he uses the breaker bar to loosen them it will be fine, trying to use an impact shatters the shanks when they're on there at torque specs. Which he nodded and did the tire rotation with the oil change. Over all the Jeep has passed for the most part, a small seep is happening on the pressure line for the power steering which I'm not worried I'll fix that at the end of the month, rear diff fluid is a little dark so I'll take care of that at the end of the month too. The Jeep is primed and ready for the road!

Yup sums it up right there with Iowa. I remember two years ago all the way up to about the third week of December, 70 degrees then BA'AM next day it was in the 20's, there was no Fall, just Summer then Winter.

in NJ a "safety inspection" consists of paying Fat Tony to make sure your tires don't get slashed overnight.

I hate our basic inspections, so I paid $50 bucks for one of the actual techs to rip through it which I was pleased with. Nothing serious is wrong with the Jeep.

Drove to and from work on some snow packed roads. Again. Feels like groundhog day with all this snow.
