What did you do to your jeep today?

Jealous! I've been wanting one forever now! If only they didn't cost as much as another KJ..

Yeah - the price was too good to pass up. Then the next day my son went to the orthodontist... if it'd been 2 days sooner, I would have passed it up. Now I get to buy braces too :insane:

I need to mod up a set of crossbars on the luggage rack. I'll have to modify the DIY hack listed on the site to attach the RTT. Would be nice to have removable bars that I could attach to the RTT first, then press it up into place and attach to the existing bars. Skip trying to finagle those smallish nuts and bolts while on top of the KJ.

These are pre-owned iron man coils and shocks so they should have settled by now to where I won't need another alignment for some time.

It was just a time issue and I need it to be on the road as it is one of my daily drivers.

The front ended up taking way longer then anticipated because when I got in there I noticed the uppers were completely shot (I had to cut one side out). My local parts store didn't have both in stock so I had to drive to the next town to pick the other side up. My jack also decided to take a crap on me too [emoji849]

What would you suggest to get me level in the rear?

They are iron man Springs (softer series) with a top plate, and the clevis ring.

*Teraflex bump stops are in route [emoji1303]

Took the front passenger side apart and started slamming the hub. DAMN is this thing stuck on there. Gonna take another crack at it tomorrow.

Drove my Jeep until the check engine light turned off. What a relief...

Also, I need to find a schematic for the passenger window. A lot of noise and a "cable" came up with the window. Won't roll down anymore...

Most likely the plastic bracket that attaches to the window broke. Replace it with a good metal piece and you won't have to worry about fixing that part again.

Figured while I was going to do the upper A arms in the front might as well add the top plates at the same time. Now all I need to go get is some upper isolators for the rear from a junk yard and I will be set for a little while.

I have a puller attachment and a slide hammer attachment. How did you stop the axle from spinning using the puller? Rust is killing me here...so I wasn't sure the puller would help. Seems to need the shock of the hammers to break up the rust.

That's exactly what I have. Problem isn't the CV though. It's the knuckle. I'll definitely try that as I thought of it last night (putting into 4WD)...just didn't really have a lot more time to work with. (Loud work + late night + quiet neighborhood = no good)

Oh with your other front tire on the ground the rack should stop the knuckle from moving too much

I meant I didn't get a chance to do it yet. But thought about it after the fact. You just confirmed one method I was gonna try tonight.

Haven't done a hub yet on the KJ but have on the LR3. Didn't have rust to deal with but instead of some chemical reaction between the steel hub and aluminum knuckle. Slide hammer didn't work nor did beating on it. I took a chisel that you'd use to cut landscape pavers and slammed that between the knuckle and the hub and eventually got enough of a gap to get a pry bar in there to whack it off.

If it's not seized to the CV axle, then just take the hub + knuckle off together. That'll make it much easier to beat on it with a BFH, without risking damage to other parts.

Pullers are great if the hub is stuck on the CV axle, but won't do anything to separate the hub from the knuckle (which sounds like what is the issue here).

what about those tie rod end pullers? wonder if you could use that as a 'separator'.
