Tom is correct and they're wrong. By definition it is a coil over shock. I doubt we'll ever get the industry to change on that. But the rest of us should be smart enough to call it what it is.

Been that way for years, started doing suspension work professionally in the 70sMost manufactures list the KJ front coil over assemblies as struts, take Monroe for example. They list part number 171577L as a strut.
Though I don't know if being a part of MacPherson style suspension is the deciding difference between strut and coil over.
Wow 7 years , doesn't seem that longCelebrated the 7th anniversary of my finding this site. I bought my Jeep on May 11, 2013 and joined here on May 21, 2013. Don't know how I made it ten days without this place.
A big thank you to everyone here for all of your great advice and friendship for the past seven years.
I made a roof rack out of strut channel and rigid metal conduit this afternoon. I need to make some changes, ad some spacers, then paint it. Today, it worked for borrowing an extension ladder. I'll be posting up a thread with the supplies and measurements.
I tried uploading a picture, but they're too big, apparently. I didn't know there was a Mopar option once upon a time.I would be interested to see your final pictures.
I ordered the aluminum Mopar roof racks when I placed my order for my 2002 Export CRD. Works well but each side has a lock on it so you can take the ends off....slide out the long rubber section and adjust the rail lengths by means of the supplied Security Torx Driver.
Problem is that you do not actually need the unlocking keys...simply pull up the rubber sections and remove the racks with a bought Security Torx Driver!
Or simply take the mounting brackets with the rails using a normal Allen Key.
If your roof rack looks too neat you may want to thief-proof it!
