Salt corrosion..: I would say some ball joints went kersnap.
Luckily was going slow, getting ready to turn?
Oh ...& hope it had "skid" plates!

Holy melt down! That is the worst coil pack I've even seen!
How long were those plugs in for? I don't even see a center electrode!
That must have been fun to remove!

I am currently at 12,000+ miles on that set of plugs...I'm guessing the coil pak body failed and then the spark arced and blew the plug apart? Never had this happen before but this is my first vehicle with coil paks...

We were out in the country watching the supermoon eclipse, so once I determined the code was not a fatal one, went ahead and drove the 35 miles home on 5 cylinders at 50 mph....

Replaced the PCV, took about 20 minutes. Had to fight the rubber boot to get it off. After that was quick and simple, came right out.

I didnt look for skids but there was a few gallons of fluid underneath it and he slid a bit cause you could see the asphalt chewed up pretty good for a foot or 2 underneath the front end.

Knowing the "quality" of our roads here, probably one too many potholes.

Not on lower wacker those are the finest streets in chicago:happy175: thats a fixer upper i dont know many street mechanics that could fix that. One time i got pulled over for swerving around cop said driving eratic. I said look at these streets how would you like me to drive. Good thing he chuckled he could have taken it the wrong way.

Typical Dodge product.

The original engine was throwing metal shavings with every oil change. Shop put it in a lift and you could hear the rods knocking from the bottom side of the engine. Tore it down and the rod bearings looked like they 200k+ miles on them - all were scarred and worn heavily. The rest of the engine was near perfect - no sludge, no deposits, no excessive wear. Debated polishing the crank, new rod bearings and reringing it but the mechanic was reluctant to try it - he said without know what caused the damage to the rod bearings I could get a repeat issue. Now I wish I would have gone that route.

Dropped in a used engine with a warranty - started it and it was only hitting on 5 cylinders. Pulled the valve cover and one rocker arm was broke off and the engine was packed with sludge. Pulled it and dropped in a remanufacutered engine with a 100K warranty. Changed the oil at 500 miles and there was metal in the oil - figured it was just part of the break in process. Changed the oil at 3000 miles and there was a **** load of metal and some antifreeze (the reserve tank was low).

I hate getting used or reman'ed engines. You really never know what you'll get. I had to replace the motor in one car after the cat clogged and backpressured the engine so much it caused the cylinders to go visibly OVAL... at 80k miles. Dropped in a jasper reman and that thing was just never right, and jasper doesn't stand behind their motor and refused to do anything when it popped it's 3rd head gasket for no ******* reason. Finally pulled it after 60k miles when the timing belt sheared off 6" of teeth and broke. Dropped in an engine I personally built up and spent 2 months of weekends assembling for a different car. That thing has been fantastic ever since.

Been gone 3 days from home
no cell, get home MagicJack not working , still no cell yet
really been nice and quiet with no bill collectors calling:ROFLJest:
So far 03 Green has received the following ( in a week )
Painted flares and bumpers- 10 bucks
Installed a CD / AM-FM in place of the cassette it had stock - had it
Installed left UCA - had it
Installed factory fogs- had them
Tinted the windows with one of those pre cut kits - had it laying in the garage
Repaired right rear door latch, came apart
New plugs, oil change, both diffs and transfer case - had everything
Replaced lug nuts - had them
New springs and shocks sitting waiting to be installed, ( very soon) will have less than 80 bucks in the 4 springs/4 shocks and parts to make it a tad bit higher:emotions34:
So with grand total spent out of pocket so far of 90 bucks we're doing pretty good
Now for slightly larger tires for winter
Also need wiring for fog lamps, have 4 new sets of housings but no wiring
Also found 6 pair of 02-04 turn signals, where did I get them all

That is really bad luck or..
What route are you going to take now?
If mine ever goes, I think I would have a pro engine building shop, tear it down and rebuild it.
Hopefully that way everything is measured /inspected and replaced as necessary, with a decent warranty.

It has a 3 year 100K warranty for parts and $50 an hour for warranty labor. Basically I'm on the hook for $50 an hour. So, instead of taking it in the shorts in trading it to be someone else's problem its going to cost me about $600 to install a 4th engine. Meanwhile my 25 year old Bronco is pressed into service AGAIN as my primary vehicle.

Looks like I got off easy, compared to some of you... I had the fan clutch replaced today (25 minutes from key hand-off to key hand-off). The temperature gauge stayed at just below the mid-point of the dial all day - a trip to Reno and back for about 180 miles.

I stopped in at a shop that was recommended by some members of Reno4x4.com forum, Precision Auto. Talked to the shop manager for a while and then scheduled to have a coolant flush and my transfer case skid plate installed. If all goes well, I'll schedule more work as I can afford it. The only thing that seems odd to me is his schedule. It's awfully light. His calendar had a lot of blank spaces, including whole days.

Dropped off at the shop for Brake Work. Already cringing at how much it will cost to do the rears with the parking brake.
