Over the weekend tried getting my rear diff cover off rounded a bolt off. The one at 1 o'clock. Used a rounded bolt extractor socket today. Got that bastard out after an air hammer a pneumatic ratchet and a map gas torch couldnt an extractor socket got it right out.

Agreed i was skeptical but once it bites down can right off. As you can see once it wasnt catching with my regular sockets i pulled out the entire arsenal but the extractor wasnt part of it. Until this coming weekend i will be getting a set of my own.

Replace drivers side mirror

Drivers side mirror has been rattling like crazy for 6 months. With all the "normal" jeep noises for some reason this one annoys me, probably since its closer to my ear and I can hear it over the tire noise. Did some forum searches and its cheaper and easier to replace than try to fix the broken clip behind the mirror glass. Received the $35 part yesterday and will be installing this weekend.

I bought a set because they were on sale and my brothers drain plug was so round it was... round lol, I tried locking pliers and whatever else I had with no luck, Did not expect the socket to work as good as it did but it came right off with no slipping.

a good start would be for him to throw himself into a pothole and let a steam roller flatten him into place. then all the rest of the politicians can do the same.

A little far there but i could see where you going. This may not be an effective way to fill pot holes though. It is a good solution for corrupted government officials.

There's a chorus line in the Rolling Stones song "Sweet Virginia" that always makes me think of Rhamn, and Obama.

Well waiting to pick it up. Supposedly it's going to cost about $1800 since both dust shields and backing plates are "rusted and sheered off" I'm rather hot headed and skeptical of the claims.

On a northern rig? I'd not doubt it a bit. Does seem a bit pricey, but then again, it's a northern rig where everything's rusted, a biach to break loose, and corners round off.

She only been in the real North a couple of years though. About 3 years in Germany where they don't use road salts that are corrosive as far as I know. This is from my sources in the Netherlands who last year had to have his Barcetta refurbished when they switched to the US style Road Salt and it PROMPTLY rusted it in less than six months. Roughly 4 years in the Carolinas, not to mention in my care for the two Iowa Winters it's experienced an extreme washing regimen of two to three times per week with underbody cleaning.

Though, I do chalk this issue up with the fact that when out of the Military it did seem to get serious neglect, cheap maintenance, and stupid cheap repairs that I'm still fixing IE the Brakes being pad slapped, parking brake being run down. When I learned it was Military, I went through it front to back and made an inventory of what the Military did to it which was strict as basement work on it. Hoses replaced, flushes done on the coolant with proper HOAT, pinion seal redone, differential service, etc.... Most of that was probably done right before it got sold off.

Maybe vehicles that grow up in milder climates, then come here to the Midwest, go into shock.
As opposed to those that were here from birth have learned to tuff it out from the beginning. :happy175:

Today is a sad day for me. It was exactly 2 years ago on this day that my TJ was totaled by a drunk driver. She was the one that got away. Over $12k in mods, 4.7L, d44's, lockers, etc. It's the allergies making my eyes water...

the same thing happened on my liberty. I drilled 4 holes in each and used tek screws to put them back on. No axle or e brake removal. Cost all of a buck. That was 3 years ago. Still holding fine.
