the same thing happened on my liberty. I drilled 4 holes in each and used tek screws to put them back on. No axle or e brake removal. Cost all of a buck. That was 3 years ago. Still holding fine.
I didn't get to see the extent of the damage, but shop manager said there's about a quarter sized hole where rivet spot should be. These guys also know my background in Automotive. He also knows I'm one who doesn't mind an ''Executive Solution'' to fix things if possible. He said last night doing both sides is a recommendation, not necessarily to be done but the driver side a precaution. Since the backing plate broke on the rear passenger and busted the speed sensor which right now I have rigged and working. (It pays to be an electrical genius) So he said he would do just the one side but to be weary of the driver side being not far behind. I'm not wondering if the extreme cold may have had a hand but I'm also hot headed after I paid a stupid high price back in Feb for an extensive inspection this wasn't noted before I took my trip to Florida and back.
