Man whatever happened to the verbal contract. Seems like everyone is just out to get eachother now.

Those were the good old days when people actually helped others and whatever happened , well it just happened. Anymore even finding someone stuck offroad you're almost afraid to touch them

Years ago I took a girl I met at the bar down to the river to do some river stuff. A truck full of creepy redneck women got stuck in their 90'ish 2wd f150. I said I'd try to get them out but I told them they'd have to hook the strap up since I had my good clothes on. Thankfully the girl that was with me worked for a law firm and mentioned writing a waiver and have them sign it. I almost had them out when I heard a loud pop, and a bunch of yelling. They looped the strap around the tie rod multiple times, which taught them a very expensive lesson. The gear box mounting bolts ripped through the frame, the Y-Link was pretzeled, ps hoses ripped apart, and the steering shaft was about a foot longer than it should've been. We had some important river stuff to take care of, so I let them use my phone and then we left. The next morning the cops showed up trying to charge me with leaving the scene of an accident, wreckless driving and a few other things. Went inside and woke my lawyer up and got it straightened out . They told the cops I hooked a strap to her truck and started snatching parts off. They said they were terrified...even though they looked like the offensive line for the Rams. I never thought about having someone sign a waiver to before pulling them out, guess things ain't like it used to be.

Sent from my G870a on 38's.

Last winter on the highway I came across some kid in a riced out Civic that hit ice and went into the ditch. I pulled over to see if I could help and went to attach my tow strap to his car but he had removed the factor tow hook because "It Looked Dumb". He then advised me to wrap the tow strap around anything I could see. Told him sorry I was not about to do that and yank him up the steep ditch. Let him call a co-worker and headed back to where I was going. I am a commercial account manager for an insurance brokerage so I know that even a "Waiver" will not always save you butt. All they have to do is prove that you were negligent in something and you are screwed. I am very careful who I help these days as people are always looking for a payday when things do not go right. I would however prefer to have some sort of waiver than the word of someone else accusing me of something.

{snicker} Is that what y'all call it down in Georgia? :happy175:

Sorry, it was a good story. I'm just trying to find a laugh where I can these days.

PS: Had a rock put a nice deep chip dead center on my windshield today while driving in to work. The fun never ends... :blah:

prof, take it to a glass shop that does "repairs". Be the best $40-50 you can spend. Even though you can still see the spot, it'll never crack/spread.

Most insurance companies cover the chip repair at no cost to you. However if left go till it cracks the windshield replacement is pretty much on your dime.

My insurance company is sending a guy to fix it while I am at work tomorrow. Dang thing looks like a bullet hit it. The glass is still smooth inside at least.

Not in MA or CT! One good thing! Full glass coverage is mandatory.

GOOD THING???? You may like Big Brother deciding what's best, but I'd still rather live in a (relatively) free state!

Well since most people around here would just drive around with chipped and broken windshields that reduce their visibility.... I like this one thing. We are lacking a sufficient amount of quality drivers who maintain their vehicles around here unfortunately.

Almost all windshields in Alaska are cracked.

I can't help people who can't help themselves but pretty blondes in cold wet clothing need all the help I can give.

Sounds like it was a hard hit and the Jeep windshield is pretty tough!
I would rather have a rock hit than have one of these hit the windshield! :Nonono::jawdrop:

Mine cracked just touching it. Seriously...though it's a replacement.

Apparently, Safelite has no idea what they're doing.
